10 Wishes, Hopes and Dreams

Announcements, Chickie Challenges

Welcome to something new from the girls at the Digichick!

We are very excited to embark on a whole new concept for our challenges in 2010. First, we are moving everything from our forums, over here to our blog! We think this format will better suit the types of challenges we will now be hosting.

Another change is that we’re only going to be having new challenges twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. But these challenges are going to be more intensive, helping you to dig deeper into telling the story behind your photos and giving you a chance to build up lots of wonderful pages for your scrapbooks.

The best change of all is that we will once again be giving out a prize to all who play along with us, along with a grand prize! So, we hope in this way, you’ll get a chance to get to know all our wonderful Digichick Designers a little better and try out their latest goodies.

(If you’ve been playing along with our Chickie Points challenges and would like to know what’s going to be happening to your points, see this thread in our forums.)

So, let’s get to it with our first challenge, shall we?

We’ve picked a theme for this month, and being that it’s January and a whole new year, we’ll be scrapping about A Fresh Start. What are your goals for this new year? I know that 2009 is a year that I am overjoyed to put behind me. I’m in a new home, back in my hometown and life is goooood! But I have some other resolutions, too.

Our goal with these new challenges is to really help you dig down deep and put onto paper the things you have to say. It’s so easy to get caught up in all the fun and the beauty of digital scrapbooking and make a lovely page… that doesn’t really say anything. So, let’s scrap together in this new year and make some fantastic and meaningful pages, shall we? Oh, yeah—and earn some wonderful prizes while we’re at it, too!

When I thought about the first page I wanted to make for this year, the first idea that came to me was to make a list of 10 wishes, hopes and dreams for 2010. Ten is always a handy number for things like this, isn’t it? Here is my layout:

So, here’s YOUR challenge today: Scrap about 10 things for 2010.

Now, that may include any New Year’s Resolutions that you’ve made for this year (or that you wanted to make but haven’t yet—LOL!). Or maybe just your goals for this year. Or the things you hope will happen in 2010. Whatever is in your heart and in your head, let’s get it out on a page, shall we?!

And to make this challenge a little easier for you, I’ve made a simple little template out of my layout (just click to download):

Now here are the rules:

  • You can download this template and make a layout with it. Feel free to move things around to suit your design! Or take this idea of “10 things” and make your own unique layout with it. Just remember to make it about 10 things.
  • You can use any designs you like—you don’t have to use something from the Digichick to qualify. We want you to scrap with us! And we want you to be making layouts that make you happy more than anything else. So, if you have something from another shop that you’d like to use, feel free!
  • When you’ve finished your layout, stop back by the blog here and leave a comment with a link to your layout. (Feel free to use our open gallery here at the Digichick if you need a place to upload your layout.)
  • The deadline for the challenge is Friday, January 8th at 11:59 EST. To qualify for the grand prize, be sure to come and post your links before then!

Each challenge here on the blog will be sponsored by a different Digichick Designer. Today’s sponsor is Kellie Mize:

kellieA native Californian, Kellie came out to the Midwest for college then stayed for a job where she met her husband, Roy. “Now I’m stuck here, happily though.” Roy and Kellie have been married for 16 years and they have two kids, Emma (8) who has red hair with a personality to match and Noah (7) a budding artist. Her hobbies include rollerblading, college football, and complaining about the weather. Kellie left a nine year stint as a mechanical engineer to start a family. When her daughter was born in 2001 she thought she’d give scrapbooking a try. It was a disaster. She had bought an early digital camera in order to e-mail pictures of Emma to her family on the west coast. It came with Photoshop Elements which she eagerly loaded onto her computer. A few hours later she was cursing at her computer, something she had never done before, and wondering what kind of yahoos wrote the software. She eventually found Scrapbook-Bytes while searching for Elements tutorials and fell in love with the digital scrapbooking. She has been designing since 2005 and in addition to The Digichick Kellie has worked with MemoryMixer, Inque Boutique, and Smilebox. Templates are her favorite product to design and she’s now made over 150 of them.

Everyone who joins us for this challenge will receive a 40% coupon code to Kellie’s shop (which will be e-mailed to you after the due date above). And three lucky winners will be randomly selected to also receive a $5.00 gift certificate from Kellie! Yay! Best of luck to you!

Now, let’s get it scrapped, shall we?
