100 Things about Me

Chickie Challenges

Happy Monday morning scrappers!

Today’s challenge follows our theme this month of Love. We are going to journal about things, places, experiences, sensations that we love.

Normally, when I do a things-I-love list, I end up listing my husband, my kids, my parents, my sisters. But those are the obvious things that I love. I know this list already, it’s a given! 20 years from now, the list will be pretty much the same. So I started to dig a little deeper to identify things in life that I really enjoy now. That I might not remember 20 years from now. Smells, sights, sensations, sounds. And instead of a top 10 list, I decided to go to 100. Now, you don’t have to do 100, but try to challenge yourself to dig deep and discover parts of yourself you haven’t considered for a while. What you find may make you smile!

Here’s my page for this challenge – I must admit, this one took me longer than my typical page. But I enjoyed the whole discovery process!

Scraplift Challenge – Who Do You Love?

Chickie Challenges

Denise here to bring you today’s challenge…a scraplift. But not just any scraplift.

Instead of me pointing you to a gallery and asking you to lift someone specific,  I want you to look into your own favorties…and pick a scrapper that you really admire…some whose layouts both inspire you and challenge you.

As I turned to my favorites, I found that it was filled with layouts from Sasha (mom2peanuts)…and boy is she inspiring! I could actually add her entire gallery to my favorites, she is THAT good!

What do I love about her layouts?

Let me show you a couple:

She has such an artistic eye…using the elements to really create the feeling of her layout. Amazing shadows and color just add to the visual interst and real impact of her layouts.

And…what do I love the most? She never forgets to tell the story with WORDS, as well as pictures…and manages to turn her journaling into another wonderful page element.

So, the second layout is the one I choose to lift. And here’s my pale imitation:

So your challenge is to find a scrapper you really admire…maybe even someone whose style differs from your own and lift them. Make sure you work on your shadows and include some journaling. Work on making the journaling an interesting element of your page.

The Rules…

- Create your challenge LO based on the layout of a scrapper you really admire.

- You can use any designs you like — you don’t have to use something from the Digichick to qualify. We just want you to scrap with us! And we want you to be making layouts that make you happy more than anything else.

- When you’ve finished your layout, come back to this thread and leave a comment with a link to your layout. (Feel free to use the open gallery here at the Digichick if you need a place to upload your layout.)

- The deadline for the challenge is Friday February 26, 2010 at 11:59 EST. To qualify for your prize(s), be sure to come and post your link before then!

Happy scrapping!

This challenge is sponsored by one of The DigiChick’s new designers, Jennifer Fox! All participants of this challenge will receive a 30% off coupon to Jennifer’s store, and 2 lucky participants will receive an RAK for $5 to Jennifer’s store! Thanks, Jennifer, and welcome to TDC!

Here’s a little more about Jennifer:

mrscuvHi! I am Jennifer Fox and I design under the oh-so-original name of Jennifer Fox Designs. I have been designing for not quite a year and am thrilled to be joining the Digichick!!! Yesterday was my Grand Opening and I’m just beyond excited! I am a former elementary school teacher turned SAHM. I have two (mostly) darling children who are 6 and 4 years old. I’ve been married for almost 9 years and to my college sweetheart. We live in North Carolina with our dog, Callie, and our brand new puppy, Max.

I have an obsession with reading and usually have several books going at once. I adore yoga and hate running. I’m a Target junkie and could easily get lost for days in there. I think York Peppermint Patties are really the best food ever and I see no reason not to eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner–especially when they’re teamed with a great cup of coffee. I scrap compulsively and take more photos of my poor children than I will ever admit. I constantly lose things and I’m horrible with names—but I’m kind, caring, and sort of patient and I think that makes up for a lot.

Heart Shaped Templete Challenge

Chickie Challenges

Hi Digichick Fans!

I have a fun template challenge for you today.  The Challenge is to list 5 of your favorites or loves from the past.

Today’s challenge sponsor is Elise’s Pieces Designs. Each participants will receive a 40% off Coupon  (valid until March 11, 2010) to her store.  PLUS Three lucky participants will receive a $5.00 RAK.

Hi! I’m Elise and I’m a designer here at The Digichick! I’m also the wife of a funny guy who slightly resembles Robert Downey, Jr (hey, I said slightly!) and the mom of three wild boys. We live in the “cowboy West” where we enjoy outdoor adventures and just hanging out as a family. I love making scrapbooks for my sons and hope that they’ll someday marry girls who will appreciate all of my hard work! I also love designing, making paper crafty projects, cooking, and reading. I’m a little bit addicted to Vera Bradley bags and anything containing peanut butter and chocolate. Come visit me at ElisesPieces.com and be sure sign up for my newsletter for a sweet *free* monthly treat!

And now on to the challenge:

Ok, we all know we LOVE our families, camera’s, latte’s and so on, but what about the favorites as a child. You can use images from the internet, dig up and scan those you have in an old box, or use none at all and all journaling.  So tell us your LOVES.

Here is a free template I created to help you get started that you can download HERE:

**NOTE:   I upload a new version of the template to correct the group folder problem for PSE.

And here is my layout!

I used Creased by Simply Scraps Designs, Wonky stitching by Traci Murphy, Always and Forever Word Art by Kellie Mize, and Ready for Spring collab by Elise’s Pieces Designs and Jude.

Download the template and make a layout with it.  You can do anything you want with this template, flip it, rotate it, add all kinds of elements to it, replace photos with more paper, or keep it simple. You don’t have to use this template to qualify for the challenge. You can create anything you wish.

Here are the challenge rules:

  • You Do NOT have to use Products from the Digichick to qualify. You can use ANY products you wish.
  • When you’ve finished your layout, stop back by the blog here and leave a comment with a link so we can leave you some love. (Feel free to use our open gallery here at the Digichick if you need a place to upload your layout.)
  • The deadline for the challenge is Monday, February 22nd at 11:59 EST to qualify for the prizes.

So that’s it!  Happy Scrapping.

The Places We Love

Chickie Challenges

Hello fellow scrappers!

Today’s challenge – you guessed it – is about love!  We are going to scrap (and more importantly journal) about a PLACE we LOVE.  It could be a room in your house, or a building – like your childhood house, or a bigger space – like the city you live in, or maybe even a vacation spot you enjoy or a store you frequent or a park that you visit often…the possibilities are endless!  It doesn’t have to be your absolute favorite – just pick one of the many places you love and scrap it!

Now, there are a few extra things you need to work into your layout!

First, you must include journaling of course…you need to document WHY you love this place…and we’ll be using our senses to help us!  You need to include at least 2 of the 5 traditional senses in your journaling…here are some examples of what I mean…

Sight –> What do you like to see at this place?  (Like the view out your kitchen window…)

Hearing –> Is there a sound here that you love or a sound that reminds you of this place?  (Like the burbling creek at the park…)

Taste –> Is there a taste that you love here?  (Like an Auntie Anne’s pretzel from the mall…)

Smell –> Is there a smell that you love?  (Like the Jasmine bush in your back yard…)

Touch –> Is there something you like to feel here?  (Like the warm sand at the beach)

You also need to use an font AND an alpha for your title.

Lastly, I want to see some sort of fastener…add some stitches, a staple, a brad, tape – something to hold stuff down.

Here is my LO…Feb 8 Egg Challenge

The Rules…

- Create your challenge LO based on the above steps (journal about a place you love including at least 2 of your senses, a font & alpha combo title and use a fastener of some sort – stitching, staple, etc.).

- You can use any designs you like — you don’t have to use something from the Digichick to qualify. We want you to scrap with us! And we want you to be making layouts that make you happy more than anything else. So, if you have something from another shop that you’d like to use, feel free!

- When you’ve finished your layout, come back to this thread and leave a comment with a link to your layout. (Feel free to use our open gallery here at the Digichick if you need a place to upload your layout.)

- The deadline for the challenge is Friday February 19, 2010 at 11:59 EST. To qualify for your prize(s), be sure to come and post your links before then!

I own and design for Paperbag Studios, a rubber stamp company, I am addicted to Burt’s Bees Lip Balm and love football! I have to sleep with a fan and I take one with me whenever I travel.
