View Full Version : Prayers for people in Enterprise, Alabama please

There are bad tornadoes and storms in Alabama today. The whole state was under High Risk this morning, and lots of schools (including Maggie's, thank God!) closed early and sent kids home. A tornado hit Enterprise High School and some kids were trapped under a fallen wall there. The reports are that the tornado was 800 yds wide, so this was a monster.

Here's a pic of some of the damage:

Please keep the town of Enterprise (and all over the state where there's other severe weather) in your prayers today!

I'm praying. Drudge says 8 are dead but the article it links to doesn't mention that. How terrifying.

Oh wow! We sure will, weather like that is so scary...even in Canada I have come within a close enough distance to see a small F1 tornado here and I never want to see another one again! I hope those people are ok.

Oh my! That's terrible. Thanks for posting this- I don't watch much television, so I haven't seen these reports yet.

It's up to 9 now. :( and the severe weather is supposed to continue until around midnight. DH is trying to decide right now if it's safe to drive home in 15 min because there are several big storm cells between here and there right now. :(

Yes, we're just south of there about an hour or so. No bad weather here, although lots of threat of it. Still more expected this evening and tonight. Lots of prayers for them. Our news broadcast said there were fatalities at the school.

I've *seen* a very small funnel cloud here in Oregon (and those are RARE sightings), and that's as close as I want to get to a tornado, thank you very much!

Positive thoughts and prayers going out...

Thanks, everyone! It's sunny today, so hopefully all the people there can start the process of getting things back together. I'm just so thankful that they closed Maggie's school early. Enterprise High School was in the process of sending kids home (they had either released 15 minutes earlier or were planning to release in 15 minutes). Can you imagine what would have happened if it had hit when all these kids were out in the parking lot? Scary!

One of our fellow digi scrappers actually lives there :( She said it looked like a war zone. Last i heard she did not have power, and was online using a generator. Her house didnt appear to have damage, but she said a block away there was nothing. Her name is Jana (jana1506)

Deena, is she here at TDC? Thanks for the update about her. I can't imagine how scary it must be to have been in town there yesterday.

Wow, I have really been thinking about all of these people. I have a horrible fear once the weather turns nice and hot and unstable. We have hidden in our closet in the basement at least once. Me on the floor, my dd on top of me, the dog on top of her and my hubby in front of us. The pain, the loss, especially when it hits a school...it breaks my heart. I am praying. Glad to hear that you are ok maggieandmommy.
