View Full Version : I hate Best Buy!

As posted on my blog today...
Remember my woeful tale of my computer crashing? Scott took it to Best Buy on Friday. He was told it would take 4-5 days to back up and restore. We were charged $300 on the spot. The paperwork said the estimated return date was Monday. Scott called Monday and was told they were working on it and to call the next day. Scott called Tuesday and was told it was almost done and to call today. Scott called today and was told it hadn't been started yet! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? He asked to speak to a a manager. He was told the manager would call back in 5 minutes. A half hour later the manager called back and was extremeley rude. Apparently its acceptable practice for their employees to LIE to customers. Apparently an estimated return time means nothing. Despite the fact that a back up supposedly takes DAYS, Scott was told that if we would have upgraded to the home service, it would have been done in one night. Interesting. Scott ended up going down to pick up my computer (which they probably infected with viruses) and get a refund. My Best Buy days are over and I will be sharing this story with everyone and everyone who ever considers using the Geek Squad including the BBB. I wish I had thought to check online for reviews first because since I posted at DST, I have heard countless horror stories about the horrible quality of work and poor customer service. So, all that to say this... if you choose to go there after reading this, don't say I didn't warn ya!

I am sooo sorry! I called a friend who knows a lot of computer geeks... he's finding out if there is someone in your area who could help!

We have had many many times that we've brought in lots of stuff to be fixed at our Best Buy and to be honest....we love it! We always buy their service plans because they have been so helpful for us. Often they have just replaced stuff for us when they could have sent it out to be fixed because it'll be quicker. They have looked at things and said..."here..this is what you need to do..we'll charge you $100 to do it, but you can easily do it yourself, just follow these directions."

I'm really surprised...but then maybe it varies from store to store. We must be lucky and have a good manager at our store.

TOTALLY not surprised!!

I've had a best buy employee chase me INTO THE PARKING LOT to harass me for not buying an extended warranty. Like seriously, people, back the heck off!!!

I'd give toilet scum my $ before I'd give Best Buy a single $.

I'm so sorry!
I know that when we bought our laptop, we decided to get a warranty through Toshiba instead of through Circuit City, so we can take it anywhere to get it repaired, because CC isn't much better about it than BB. Horrible, just the same.

Man.. im so sorry to hear about your troubles..
Im horrified that they charged you 300 bucks.. and the entire process only takes a few hours.. they hook up another computer.. that is empty basically.. and just drag and drop (to put it simple) from one hard drive to another.. then delete the windows on yours.. reinstall windows.. then drag your info back.. a persona doesnt even have to sit there.. so 300 bucks is down right outragous.
im thinkin my hubby is in the wrong profession.. (actually hes in the right profession just doing the wrong job.lol)
He does this for so many people.. FREE.. just to help them out..

I am thanking my lucky stars yet again.. that I have a hubby that does all this "stuff" for me.. we have never had to send anything in our home off to be fixed..
nothing.. he use to build houses too... so we dont even need a fixer upper dude come..

a window is the only thing that has ever been "out sourced" lol

Thanks for warning us about them completely ripping you off.. its totally wrong on their part!!!

Gosh, that stinks! I'm always amazed of some people's sense of "customer service"!!!
