As of midnight Pacific time, my sister's DH (my BIL) left Iraq for Kuwait, and should be home in 42 days (not that she's counting, mind you). He's been in Iraq since June 2005, and will arrive home on Memorial Day 2007.

YAY! I'm glad he'll be back soon!

How's she doing, Rachel? Isn't she the one who was sick?

She is doing better. They eventually figured out that there was some kind of muscle between the heart and ribs that was inflamed and that was causing the short of breath, weakness, "heart type troubles" she was experiencing (cause her heart is *healthy* according to the cardiologist). After months of painkillers, she decided to do acupuncture, and has now gone off the painkillers, and started working out. She's lost a LOT of inches, but is upset because she has gained a pound...

That's awesome, Rachel! I'm glad that they figured out what it was (and that it wasn't something serious!).

BIL couldn't be extended because he's already been there 23 months, so he lucked out.

The unfortunate news is that he will be deployed again in April 2009, but that's 2 years away and at least they know and can plan for it this time around.
