The Worst Mother's Day

I have had the WORST Mother's Day ever. EVER. Not much can top this.

My mom called at 7:30 am to let me know that my grandfather passed away this mornng unexpectedly.

Well, that in itself had me grieving and crying all day.

I started researching airline fares to Miami... and I can not find anything under $400.

Seth wanted nothing to do with me all day, and he kept wishing DH a Happy Mom's Day. ("Daddy, Happy Mom's Day!)

DH ran out to Walmart this afternoon, which is where I am positive he picked up my card.

So just 10 minutes ago Seth presented me with my card and my mother's day gift.

a pack of gum.

A PACK OF GUM.

Are you FREAKIN' kidding me?!?!?! I pushed out an 8.5 lbs baby 2 mos. ago, and I get a pack of GUM?

Lets not talk about the tool and Rubik's Cube DH brought home for himself.

At least he was very smart in giving the gum to me right before he had to leave for church.

So between yesterday (http://www.thedigichick.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13732)and today, I don't think I can get any lower.

ohmygoodness! andrea! what a terrible day! i am SO sorry that you had such a crummy mother's day and am saddened to hear about the loss of your grandfather. i'll say a prayer for you, love.

Yep, off the hook for Father's Day. Sorry to hear that this weekend hasn't been the best for you. I hope this week gets better and maybe your hubby will bring you home an absolutely wonderful belated Mother's Day present (we can wish right? I'm wishing for that same thing - although I'm almost certain it won't happen).

Oh no! I had read about your abuello on your blog earlier today. Ummm, about Nate-- do you have a dog house outside????? (totally saying that in the hopes that it might bring a slight smile to your face). I'm so sorry that he got you gum! MEN!!!
Well, I'm sure it's be more expensive, but if you can find a cheaper flight into Tampa, I'd be happy to drive you down to Miami this week! :o)

Oh, Andrea, I am SO sorry about your lousy mother's day and your grandfather's passing. And, on the "gum" subject...I just don't know what to say. My dh gave me a lawn mower battery for mother's day one year. No card. just a lawn mower battery. When I turned thirty, he threw a dominoes pizza on the table as he headed to his night classes..no card, no gift, nothing. And this Christmas, I didn't even get one gift from him. So I know where you're coming from in the lousy gift department. Men. Sometimes ya just want to smack 'em!

And just remember the whole gum thing come fathers day, and in the mean time go out and buy yourself something and not feel guilty about it! My DH found out the hard way that I can spend more on myself if he forgets than he would in the first place!
