it's a beautiful day and I haven't taken the kids outside to play. I have too much to do indoors. Plus I just don't like being outdoors. sigh. wish I had a fenced yard.

oh well, maybe after dinner I can get DH to take them outside.

I know how you feel, I like the thought of being outside but when I get out there and the bugs and sand flies and the bees and the ants and the spiders and the heat...I just give up and go back inside, lol, you're not alone! (Nor a bad mom!)

weeell, I also forgot to say that my kids ate chocolate chip cookies for lunch, I ate chocolate covered espresso beans for my lunch. lordy, no wonder I am a jittery mess right now . . .

Henry has been basically glued to the Webkinz site everyday. He bought a chihuahua today bringing him up to 3 pets.

on the upside, I suppose we are protecting them from harmful sun rays by being inside . . . bwhahahaahaha.

I feel the same way, Mimi! I took the girls out for a few minutes but didn't want them getting too much sun so had to drag them back in (Well, Rebekah didn't care, but Jasmine cared enough for both of them!) and bribe them with Mary Poppins. Talk about feeling like a horrible mom!!

Well I'm glad I'm not the only bad Mom. I hate the outdoors too. I love it when I'm looking out at it, but once I'm out there...I hate the heat, the bugs, the mess, sweating, ICK! Then I just bring them all indoors.

Fortunately the way my house is set up I can sit in my kitchen at my desk and see them outdoors in our fenced in back yard with locked gates so that is often what I do, but when it's REALLY hot ...we don't go out either. And I like thinking of it in terms of saving their skin form the harmful rays. LOL! :D

I actually prefer to go out after diinner when it's a tad cooler and I can always use the excuse "it's getting dark" so we have to go back in. LOL!

LOL, Michele!
We have three sides fenced in, so getting the 4th side fenced is pretty high on our priorities. I can't wait to be able to let her play without worrying so much! (there are about 10 cars down our street every day, so it's really not a problem, but I seem to enjoy worrying about that anyhow ;)

oooh, I am jealous, Michele, sounds like a good set up.

DH is outside with Lily right now. She really likes being outside. Will even go barefoot, something I never do. In about 15 minutes I'm going to walk to the library with them and that will be my outside time with them. Tomorrow though my parenting group is starting our parent-child summer camp so we'll get a good dose of fresh air and sunshine then.

Oh, and back to the jittery thing . . . my left eyelid keeps twitching! aaack.

And general air pollution!! LOL

Awwww...you got a chihuahua?!! I'm so envious :(

Yep, don't feel bad, sweetie...I don't enjoy being outside either...unless it is in the shade, with a fan blowing on me, and a cool beverage in hand...heehee :p

We're fenced in, but it's so dang hot here! When I got back to the car after swimming lessons this morning, the in-car temp was 111!!! That was at 10:30 this morning! ugh! We've been spending the mornings at the pool or at one of the shady parks and the afternoons inside.

Maggie ate grape tomatoes and apples for dinner. lol Not exactly a "dinner" kind of dinner, is it?

We went swimming at G-Ma's pool today, does that count???? It was actually gorgeous (for here at this time of year) today, only around 93. We went to T-jay, to swim and then to K-Mart. I was going to let them go out front when we got home, but Matthew was done and ready to go inside for cracker/milk. So in we went. The 2 little kids next door were out and I wasn't too keen to be out there with them anyway - isn't that aweful??????

wow, hot hot hot

at least grape tomatoes and apples are healthy. I don't think my kids would ever touch a grape tomato (which I think are yummy and cute)

This week so far has been pretty nice...around 80 - 85, but by the weekend it's supposed to be in the 90s again and humid. I had my dh buy a huge swingset with one of his bonuses so I could send the kids into the backyard to play rather than taking them to the park. A lot of is really is the heat too. I hate sitting on a metal bench in 100 degrees chasing 4 kids around. I can deal with the pool for about 2 hours and then i'm done! WE also bought a huge 15 ft inflatable water slide last summer and my dh will get that out almost every Sunday and the neighborhood kids all gather here. They come from far and wide when they see a water slide. LOL! :D I wish i had a pool in my backyard...but I don't want to take care of it!

I know that feeling! My neighbors have four kids: 3, 5, 7, 9, and they just SWARM over every time we go outside. Good kids, but they just talk and talk and talk. (Our old neighbors had 3 kids and we were secretly happy when they moved thinking maybe a couple more like us would move in... careful what you wish for!)

But I actually was the one trying to get Parker outside yesterday and he just wanted to stay and in and read the same two books over and over again.

it was 102 here yesterday, which is unusually hot for this time of year. 95, yes, 102--not until August, usually!

ugh, 102??? It's 80s all week here...we really have to get some fans in this house (no a/c and the old radiator-style heat means the most we could ever do is window air conditioners!!) I'm okay with it until we get big thunderstorms that mean we have to close all the windows. Then I feel like I'm melting....

holy cow I don't think i'd survive without AC. As you point out, though, I'm in a different climate. Still...one summer I was in Ireland with my granny and they (obviously) don't have AC. It was 85 one day and we thought we were melting...

Good kids, but they just talk and talk and talk.

Yes - that's it!!! My boys talk enough without having more chatter aimed at me! And usually right now - it's me out there watching them all! The G-Grandmother to the youngest (he's 1.5) will come out to watch him, but the dad to the other usually isn't out there (he's only 6!). Now he's the nephew of the GG, so she watches him too - but it's just too much most times. And usually Ry wants one or both of his other friends out - and I watch them too then! Oh weel - it's all good! Just wasnt' up for it after the forementioned 3 places yesterday - it was just too much!!!! I needed down time - LOL!

DS loves the outdoors, luckily I don't mind it either. We have a huge backyard that he can easily escape from, so we have to be outside with him. The dog can also easily escape (especially if he sees another animal go by LOL), so we're used to being out there with the two of them. Lunch on the other hand, DS's favorite is a pickle and cheese sandwich, so he usually gets to eat that on the weekends! There really aren't any other kids in our neighborhood except for the brats across the alley and they're too old to play with DS (thank goodness!).

My DD & DS LOVE pickles and I used to limit them. The doctor said...let them have a pickle/day..it's a veggie! She said, yes, lots of sodium, but at least it's a veggie. She said if the alternative is chips or mac 'n cheese...at least it's a veggie too. Now she said if they'd rather have peas, let them have pease. :D LOL! So I let them have 1 each day. Of course they were thrilled.
