For those who've seen my gallery, I'm sure you've noticed how much I use white in my LOs. I've gotten to the point that I feel really strange when more than half the background is covered in paper!! And I'm not the only one, I'm seeing so much white creeping in to galleries all over the place.
So, can anyone figure out just what it is about white that is so appealing? Is it just the clean crisp feeling that only white seems to create, or is there something deeper to it?

I have used the "white space" a few times, and I think it just makes for a more eye catching and clean looking layout. Sometimes you feel like a nut..sometimes you don't! :)

I too have fallen in love with white space. There is something about it that is so dramatic, yet it brings such a focus on the picture and journaling.

Umm...you guys *do* know that white space doesn't always mean white, right? ;)
I actually just completed my 2 first layouts with white backgrounds...the first one because it was a scraplift, and the other because using a background paper just made it too busy. I don't think I'll be doing it all the time, though...it's engrained in me to dislike white because I want to rebel from the CM rules that I was taught when I first started scrapping...hehehe.
But, I have to admit that the ones with white backgrounds stand out to me in the galleries, a lot of the time.

I like to look at the white space ones but rarely do one myself. They are very eye-catching.

I guess for me, it depends on the look I am trying to achieve...and the picture. If the picture is already too busy, white works best. BUT I am a true-blue paper hoarder and in the digi world it is no different...I love patterns and color. STILL, I do find myself drawn to the clean look and feel that white LOs tend to emit...it is soothing in a way!

I really didn't like the look when it started to become popular..........but I am being won over, I think it has grown on me and I even have some whitespace layouts in my favourites at various galleries.........yet to really try one myself though!!

Yup, the negative space appeals to me, too... It's just not something that I know how to pull off well, lol!

I love the white space style too. I think it's just something about it that looks classic and timeless. Certain embellishments or other cute things we do now we may like when we do them, but might cause us to wonder what we were thinking in a few years. :omg_smile But I think the clean white space layouts will always look great.

Love to use the white space, I'm the queen of simplicity (and white space is a great tool for me to stay simple---> in my lo's I mean, LOL). I love to use black space as well, I love the dramaic feeling to it!

I tend to love color space...lol not just white but any space of color left untouched. It is a look that i, personally, can not achieve very often even if i attempt to scraplift it. I am just never happy with my version of things...lol

I really love the white space too! I have been eyeing them on other peoples galleries for a while now.. i finally made a few LO's the other day with white bg's and was very happy with them.

Count me in, too.....I've been trying to use more white space for about a month or so now. It's a bit of a struggle, but I really like the final outcome.

i've got a few layouts that i haven't posted up yet that use a lot of whitespace....i gotta dig those up! it's fun! but i think it's because i'm such a minimalist in my life regarding "things" i love stuff, but i am quick to toss things that i don't use or wear, etc.

I do love the use of white space. But not for every layout....I just figure it's one more technique....and more confusion to me about what is my style. Lol!

i think white (or any color negative space) is really great for design. it let's the eye rest. sometimes lots of motion is what you want in a layout, but sometimes you want a calmer layout and negative space creates that. :)

I SOOOOO wish I could be that way. My house is full to the gills...maybe I need to re-join flylady? ROFL :) But I can use white space in layouts, maybe that is my retreat from my messy house? hA HA HA!

I just posted my first LO this morning and it's mostly in white! And you know what? It happened because of a slip of my mouse! I went to click the text box's "plus" sign (which usually meant there was more text and I needed to expand the box), but the box wasn't filled with text. It was filled with color.
Suddenly, my background paper disappeared. As I looked at the LO, I thought, "Ooooh, I think I like this!" Funny how some designs are born, eh? :)
My LO is titled "A Work of Art" for the photograph of the flowers. You can see it in my digital album (http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/599).
Editing note: Okay...I did another "white" LO. Hey...maybe I could create a "White" Album! (heheh...The Beatles..although I'm far too young to remember them! Honest!) Here's my LO: Walking (http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/3454/limit/recent)
