Well i got my PSP X in the mail yesterday. I was so excited! I installed it, played around all day, BUT everything I would close PSP X it would freeze. Sooooo I uninstalled it then reinstalled again.. I only closed once after that and it did not freeze but I did shut down my computer and when in the WIN Blue shut down screen got this Microsoft ERROR.. :Not_Impre
Is this happening to anyone else that installed PSP X?
Oh yeah, and I have min requirments... have Win XP Pro.. P4 3.0 GHZ, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB HD. I don't see that being a problem.
Thanks!

I've had it freeze up a couple once when closing. It certainly doesn't run "50% faster". I've never had PSP9 run slow.. but on a few instances, I have had to get up and walk away out of frustration on it running slow in PSPX.
Not *overly* impressed.. not much of an upgrade.. though I do love the new layers pallette.

hey girls, I do not have the PSP X. I didn't order it. I am on the newsgroup for it though and been following. The problems you are experiencing aren't just you 2. There are several people having this problem. I have also read that it really isn't that much different than PSP 9 and that most people are a little dissapointed in the "upgrade". Now don't flame me for this because like i said, i don't personally have it. That info came from the newsgroup. I just wanted to let you know that you are not the only ones having problems and i have read more than once that it is NOT faster like they claim it to be. I hope you get it all worked out. For now i am sticking with 9!

Yes me too. I'm having those freezing up problems. It's no way faster than 9. It seemed like the more I used 9 the faster the start up was. Sometimes I can't close 10 out, I have to hit the space bar then it will close out. I still have 9 installed and I'm gonna keep it. Maybe they will come up with a fix for it if many are having the same problem. I do like the layer pallets and the red eye is much better.

I haven't had any problems, yet! *knocking on wood* But, I love the new makeover tool, and the new red eye tool is great! The layers palette is nice too. It seems to run faster for me, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. I'm keeping 9 installed just in case, but so far, so good!

I'm not too thrilled with it either I have to say. I got it yesterday and it isn't freezing on me...but i don't like the workspace being dark grey (and NOT being able to change it) and what did they do with the deform tool??? Is it called something else now or something? I got disgusted before I looked too far, but I did open the help files and there was nothing listed for the deform tool. is it gone?? :(
not sure what I think about the browser across the bottom either..there's not much workspace left.....

Amy,
The Deform tool is still there, it's just not defaulted to be on the menu anymore. But you can put it there by customizing the tool bar if you want. Or, you can still use the shortcut for it, Ctrl+D.
I was able to close out the Browse palette, you can toggle that on and off by using the Palette menu in the View menu.
This web site has some great information about what's new and how to manipulate things in Version X.

The deform tool is now call "picker" or something weird. I couldn't find it either and was starting to get annoyed when I stumbled across this "new" tool which I believe does the same thing. I never really used the deform tool before though. Anyway it's listed in the toolbar with the mover tool, at least that's where mine was. Not sure if it does what you're looking for, but it worked for me (all I needed was to resize and rotate a bit).

The one thing I used CONSTANTLY in 9, and still keep opening 9 up to use is the Manual Color Correction. It's completely gone in X... it was always my easy quick way to change colors on things! :(

The manual color corrector is gone in X???? I would hate that! I use that a lot in 9. I am thinking i was smart by not getting the update.

you can restore the manual color correction - I did!
go to Views, Customize (near bottom), Unused Commands - find it and drag and drop it on the menu you want the option to be at.
Found these at :

I use it all the time too, seems to work the same way.

I've had PSP X installed for about 2 weeks (free trial only, too broke for the real thing) and have had only one problem, I was trying to clear out a selection and held down the delete button and I don't know what happened, the entire program died...just went away, plus all the pictures I had just scanned. It was weird, but it hasn't happened since, so hmm. I can't wait to be able to afford the actual program!

PSP X has a few bugs, one of them being what appears to be freezing or hanging when trying to close out the program....you can avoid this by emptying the clipboard before closing the program or if you close and it "hangs", just click Cntrl+Tab and the empty clipboard window will come to the front....that's the problem with shutting down...that little window is opening and waiting for a response but you can't see it. ;)
HTH...........
PS - I don't get the whole Deform/Picker Tool switcheroo....when I first installed PSP X and tried the Picker Tool it didn't seem to do anything at all but, after doing a keyboard shortcut for the Deform Tool my Picker Tool works as the Deform Tool....Corel should have just waited and added something worthwhile to the program before releasing a lackluster upgrade.......looks like a lot of smoke and mirrors, same old tools with new names LOL :)

I upgraded while they had the sale going on but that is because I had psp 7 still as am a college student and I knew it had lots of different things than mine did from the free trial. So far no problems!
