I know we have a few girls that live in the So. California area. Could you check in please? The fires look nasty and have me worried!

all is well here. no fires out my way, but I know there are plenty in the affected areas. My prayers are out there. Last night the news said there were about 1200 homes lost to fire. 500 in san diego and about 120 in Lake Arrowhead. Its devastating. As if it weren't bad enough, the Orange county fires were caused by arson. There are monsters out there for sure.

I'm in CA....northern CA though. I would just be so scared if I lived in SoCal. Can't even imagine having to evacuate like that...I was just day dreaming this morning...wondering how much stuff we could fit in our minivan. Scary scary :(

Where are Darla and Marsha? All I know is that they're in CA. And isn't Karah out there, too? I hope you girls are ok!

Karah and Darla are in the Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga/Alta Loma area. Marsha is in central California (well, the top of so cal, bottom of central cal.) ROFL.
I am sure praying for everyone, I can't believe all that is happening. They just reported that over 250,000 people have been evacuated from their homes.

Darla & I are fine - there haven't been any fires here. There was one about 15 minutes east of us but I think that one is out now - I haven't seen any info on it. But we're about 45 minutes from Lake Arrowhead so the smoke here is just disgusting. Everything inside is an eerie orange color from the sun shining through the smoke. And to top it all of it, it's in the 90's today so we have the house all closed up and the air running. Blech.

Thanks for the updates about you guys, Karah.
I know that when there were all of those fires in Florida/South Georgia/South Alabama last spring there were so many people who had real trouble with their asthma. Maggie's teacher last year has a little boy with severe breathing issues and she said that they were just sitting at dinner one night and he turned blue all of a sudden because he wasn't getting enough oxygen. And we were hundreds of miles from the fires! Scary!
Stay safe, everyone! ((hugs))

Hey guys just got home.....we were in San Diego this weekend where the fires started - and it was just terrible. Lots of the places we visited are now burning and it just seems so surreal to see our pictures and then looking at the aftermath on tv. we stayed in Temecula the last 2 days but as we left today as we could see the fires coming closer. The hotel where we were were taking in evacuees and it was just a sad sight to witness. We are home now and as Karah said things are quiet here but there are ashes in our driveway and cars. Feels very eerie to see this and brings back memories of the last fire we had 4 years ago......

It's close to Temecula Darla? I should check up on my friends out there (sounds bad I know, but with families & time difference sometimes we don't talk for a week or so).
I hope you all stay out of the way of the fires!

Hey Kelly - there is a fire in Temecula now - it is burning 411 acres and is 50% contained - and I thought I heard of another today on the news but can't be sure. There are no mandatory evacuations from what I could read on the town's website. Hope that helps and let us know how your friend is.....

Thanks for the info Darla. I im'd her after reading this thread and she said everything is ok for now. There are 2 fires 10-15 miles from her. She showed me some pics of the smoke clouds in the distance from her subdivision. Scary stuff! I hope the weather cooperates more so that the firefighters can get them under control & out.
