I just got news that my ex-husbands cousin got into a very bad motorcycle accident. He's only 36. Nobody really knows what happened because there wasn't a witness, just the passer byer that found him. He hit his head on a guard rail with no helmet. Illinois has a stupid no helmet law. He's in a coma since he was found and things do not look good. Even though I'm not related to them anymore, my son is though, they are still like family because I've known them for over half my life.
Could you say a little prayer for Jeff and keep him in your thoughts Please?
Thanks!

That's terrible! I don't that any state should be able to opt for a no helmet law. That's just stupid. They make it a law to wear seatbelts, they should do the same for helmets! Prayers for Jeff and the family.

Well I just heard some terrible news. Seems that the only thing keeping Jeff alive is his mom. Which it must be the most hardest decision to make. One I couldn't imagine or wish on my worst enemy. I heard from a friend of the family that the doctors were asking her to sign organ donation papers. She said no so there had to be another operation. Don't know what kind that would be.
So now I pray that she can find some peace and for the courage to let go.

Ok after getting up this morning feeling like crap. I called my ex-SIL, who gets her information straight from Jeff's sister.
Well apparently there are a ton of rumors going around. And some people actually came up to his dad and ask what the arrangments were.
Well as of last night he does not need help from the ventilator and breathing on his own and they are going to replace the part of his skull that they removed. So that means the swelling has gone down. Things do look better but he's far from being out of the woods. His dad may even go back to work tomorrow.
I should of called first before I got myself all worked up. But the lady that told me the things from my last post is the daughter of Jeff's mom's friend. ??? So now I'll only get my info from the ex-SIL.
Thanks for all your prays and kind words!

I hope and pray he is improving. The helmet was MY law when dh got his Harley - Arizona also does not have a helmet law (and I think it's freaking STUPID not to!) My cousin is 46 now and wrecked his mc 5 years ago - he is mentally about 8 years old. My aunt and uncle lost their youngest son at 21, then their son in law at 30, now they are taking care of Steve (he was not wearing a helmet and he was fishtailing on purpose) - it is so heart wrenching and I continously tell dh this - I hate motorcycles. I really do. He crashed his Harley about 8 months after he got it on some wet tar on the interstate - thank God he had his helmet on. He broke the pinky knuckle off his left hand and had surgery, missed work for 7 weeks, and will never have full mobility of that finger. I know it seems so trivial and at least he is with me, but did I mention I hate motorcycles? EEK My dh is a Jeff too - prayers for your ex bil.

Valerie, this is TERRIBLE to read about. I mentioned to you that my dad was in 2 accidents when I was younger. The first one happened as he was trying to avoid hitting a marathon bicyclist who was being an IDIOT. I remember seeing his helmet shaved down flat on one side, where he had skidded across the road and knowing that if he hadn't had that helmet on, it would've been his SKULL in that condition. He was laid up for a long time, propped up on our couch with stitches and his ribs bounc up. He busted his collar bone in 2. The 2nd time he wasn't wearing a helmet (grr) and suffered a serious concussion. My heart aches when I hear of motorcycle accidents. They hit home.
I hope he keeps recovering! And yes, make sure you keep going to the SIL for your info, lol! (((hugs)))
