Hey ya'll. I am thinking of switching my life long adventures of Windows over to Mac. I think that I really want to do this, but is it easy to send documents and files i.e pictures to family on the Mac system. I don't want to have to convert everything over to send it to my family.

If I don't go to Mac, then I am thinking of upgrading to Vista. I typically have my husband build my computers to suite me, but I really just want to buy a name brand this time. Anyone have an suggestions or ideas. Preferences and reasons on Mac Vs Vista!

Thanks Ya'll;
AilyKat

P.S >>> Kind of like a Chirstmas gift to myself! Well deserved after Christmas shopping for everyone else. Why does the women always have to do all the shopping?

I personally have a PC with Vista, and I wish I could go back to XP, most my programs, and my printer do not work with it :( If I had the money I would buy a Mac! As for pictures, I am pretty sure they all work the same!

I LOVE my mac. I can't even imaging how people scrap on a PC. Mac computers come with a program called iphoto for organizing all of your photos. You can do a lot with them from this program, slideshow, photobooks, emailing, resizing - a great basic program. I use it for organizing all of my scrap supplies. If you decide to stick with a PC I have heard terrible things about vista. Everyone says they want to switch back to xp - thus the spoof on the mac commercial. PM me if you want more info. We got our first mac last Christmas and have purchased 2 more since. My mom has also converted to mac since then and the rest of my family says that their next computers will be macs. I really can't say enough good about them!!!

I absolutely ADORE my Mac and will NEVER go PC again. This is our third Mac and we are planning on buying a Macbook with our tax refund.

As for sharing, it's easy to share and you don't have to convert anything over. The only thing I've had issues with are .doc files, but I just right click on it and say open with iWork 08 and it opens perfectly. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Mac. I promise you will not regret purchasing one.

I am one with a new computer with Vista... I HATE Vista and totally wish I could have stayed with XP! I was actually just talking to my dh about it yesterday, saying that it certainly doesn't seem like an upgrade to me!

Well thank you ladies for all the information and opinions. I always try to ask people who already have the items I am looking to purchase, so far it's never done me wrong. I am going to purchase a mac, I am actually thinking about the "MacMini" as it is a bit less expensive to start off with, I am sure I will be shortly purchasing the big girl toy too. With the love everyone seems to show for them.

One more thing, what programs for digital scrapping and photo design/graphic design do you use on Mac?

Thanks again ladies.

I guess I am some sort of weirdo freak. I have Vista Home Premium and I like it. I like how it looks. My sister has a Mac and when I try to use it doesn't feel intuitive to me at all. I guess I've totally been PC-brainwashed, although my first computer was a Mac (one of those boxy Apple things waaaaaaaay back when).

I do keep hearing people rave about Macs, which does make me curious. However, I could never consider one until ACDSee Photomanager becomes Mac-compatible. When that happens, I might start hanging out in the Apple store more.

Hi! I used windoze for years. Then I took over a project which ran on
a Mac. I reluctantly borrowed a Mac and after a month I was in the
'you can have it when you pry my dead fingers from it' zone.
Religiousity aside, I have 3 Macs now and can't imagine why I
would ever go back to microsoft. iPhoto does a great job organizing your
images. I bought iWork ($50 for educators) for my documents and presentations.
No problems with .doc, .ppt, .xls files.

We have all heard the horror stories about Vista. I don't have to fight with my Mac to get it to do what I want.
