Making grungy overlays

I guess there are tons of ways to make grungy overlays (whether its dark or white colored) .. use brushes.. scan in stuff and convert them...

Brushes don always work as they only can go up to 2500pixels.

For me... i use filters and play arnd with the levels to get the grunge feel i like...

so how do you do it? Do you have a favourite way?

So far I've just used brushes..... and every now and then textures... :teeth_smi

hhmm....never tried it but it sounds fun! This may be something I need to try in the near future!!! :)

I'm still working on it but I basically do the same as you - convert a pic and play with the levels/brightness until I get the desired look. I had a really good one done but lost it somehow...So upset...! Now I gotta redo it...:angry_smi
