I skipped the very expensive store insurance, called my agent for our auto/renter's insurance and have insured my camera (and all gadgets) for replacement value (not what they cost me) under PERSONAL PROPERTY PROTECTION - therefore NO DEDUCTABLE for $1 per $100 of insured value on the items...so, if I leave my Rebel on the hood of my car and forget and drive off...it's covered!

This insurance does not cover things like sensors wearing out, shutter failure, etc... - only covers loss, theft or damage - but the other things are usually covered under manufacturers warranty anyhow - my kids are harder on my equipment than anything :)

Just thought I would share that in case there were other klutzes like me out there :)

DH and I have so much photography equipment, including all the darkroom stuff, that we actually have a "rider" on our insurance just for that. That covers 4 different cameras, 3 enlargers, etcetera....
