View Full Version : Question about Drop Shadows?

Is there a standard drop shadow setting that I should be using, or do you all sort of come up with your own, and use what you like?

I adjst the standard.
Usually I reduce it to 45%, then 3,2,2 in the other options.
Um, in Photoshop. Not sure how that translates to PSP!

Hmmm.......Doesn't sound the same, but THANK you for answering.

I vary the look of my drop shadows, to suit the comp.
I also create my own drop shadows. I've created a video tutorial which you can see in my blog :)
Hope it helps. Just a warning, it might make you feel ill looking at it, as I recorded with a new function - lol! Talk about being sea sick ;)

There are no standards. Drop shadows should just be realistic. No huge depth for a piece of paper laying on the base, and not really shallow shadow for something that's hugely bulky.
I happen to use Traci Murphy's drop shadow actions (avaialble at funkyplaygrounddesigns) as a starting point, and adjust them as I see need on a particular object. I often use ones that aren't named for that particular action because I like how it makes the element look. I like to use her actions because it saves me a lot of time.
But there are great tutorials out there for learning how to do drop shadows on your own, depending on what program you use.
