im confused about brushes. I see people used it in their layouts but what exactly are they and how do you use them?

Brushes are the main thing you use to draw with in PhotoShop. You can use the default brushes that come with the program, or you can download a ton of different, more interesting ones from the internet. I have a tutorial for creating and using custom brushes if you want to check it out.

also, some people sell brushes or include them in kits, i am pretty sure there are quite a few around, if you look at the different shops, but i can't really think of any off the top of myhead.

There are some very cool ones here - both in the boutique (some of the kits include brushes too) and in the free download section.

Alot of the kits here at Digi Chick have brushes actually, my favorites are in the Heck Ya! kit by Holly and Manda. And the absolutely fabulous new kit by Mindy, Sugar Doodle has the cutest little whimsy brushes :)

Some of my favorite free brushes are at Spaceraven. (http://www.spaceraven.net/)

They are alot of fun to play with :)

Edited to say: I guess me and Kristin were thinking the same thing, it just takes me forever to post, LOL

And Digital Scrapping World has an entire directory of links to where you can download brushes (most are free):
