So my little one - Hayley - had a play date today and the mom just called to ask if would be ok to let her stay overnight and meet us at church tomorrow.....of course, I said ok (even though I didn't want to) but I feel so sad to see her growing up....sigh. Now the trick is will she really stay there all night long!

My 3 y/o son just spent his first night away from us . . . with his Nanny (grandmother) last night. He didn't cry, whine, nothing. I didn't hear from her until 8:30 this morning. My daughter was spending the night away from home before the age of 1 . . . DS had surgery, so he's just been delayed. I think it was a good thing. He was READY to do it . . .
Hope you make it through the night . . .

wow, it's tough, but I agree it's a good thing! Enjoy your evening, do something just for you and try not to pine too much! When our little boy spends the night away (which isn't very often) I like to have a long (uninterrupted) bath and a glass of wine, but by the time I relax I'm wishing he was home again!

lol I still have her older sister here but I think when it's your baby - you start to really realize how they are growing up.....lol

My kids spent their very first night away from us last winter. Ahhhhh.... two glorious nights of peace and quiet. I know though - they grow up so fast. You can't wait for them to be more independent...and then...they are sniff sniff

awww, I'm not there yet, but I'm sure I'll feel it as much as you do, Darla! Big hugs...

awww...
awww Darla I can really understand you...I don't have a child but a sister who is 13 years younger than me. It so hurts in my heart to see her driving away withe her bike and her friends...and without us...sigh
Once I saw my mother sitting on the stairs crying...I asked her why and she said that it makes her so so sad when she sees us all growing up and that everything happens far too quick!
So you are not the only mum with these feelings

those bittersweet moments - I mean we can't wait for so many things, then other times we just want them to stay little!

 Hopefully you'll feel better after I rub your head like a puppy! Just don't start shakin' your leg :laught16:
I do know how you feel though. Last night I was trying to scrap a photo of my oldest and just got really sad. I feel like I really don't have him here at home with us that much longer :(

Have not let the kids stay the night at someone's house yet... But we have not spent the night away from them either. We are going to the Navy Ball and our sitter will be watching them overnight....I am nervous and happy about it all in one. Twins are 4.

My son had his first sleepover on Friday night. He's 5. Well, it was his first non-family-member sleepover. He went to his best friend's house. Her name is Katie. A girl! Won't THAT be a fun story to tell?!
