So, I grew up in the Sunshine State and lived there for 23 years of my life. It's so funny how that affects the way I think about things. Like when I first moved to Tennessee and I couldn't find sunblock for a Spring Break trip... because sunblock is a "seasonal" item up in TN. What?!:fool:

And now I need a pair of cute but cheap white flower girl shoes for my daughter for my BIL's wedding this weekend. And of course, now that I don't live in Florida, I find myself in a place were they actually take that "No white shoes after Labor Day" thing dead seriously. I don't know what I'm going to do... other than pay WAY too much at David's Bridal. Sigh...

I've been laughing at these little things for about 9 years now. It's funny what I think is normal, and then I find out that it's not really! :laught16:

What size does she wear? Let me look through Natalie's closet and see if we have a pair...

I know we have a pair of black ones in 10 1/2 but I don't think that will help much...

I went to Payless and they were out! I need them by Wednesday... so I'm going to have to keep hunting. :nea:

Kim, I'd totally drive out there to pick some shoes up. And then stay forever and ever. :giggle: I think Katie is an 11 1/2.

That's really funny! Yeah, old habits do die hard!

I hope you can find some cheaper than at David's...I agree, check Payless. And even the other stores, check the clearance sections! I saw tons of sandals a few weeks ago, so you might be able to find white shoes still :good:

I'm wearing flip flops right now. You can take the girl out of Florida... ;)

Oh, and I tried Wal-Mart, too. I wonder if maybe Target would work?

EDIT: Amanda, I see there's one about 35 mins from here... Hmm... off to browse!

Oh, yes they do! For $40 bucks! ::faint::

Well... Target IS across the street from the Stride Rite. I could always check there first. ;)

Tried another Payless tonight... they didn't have the shoes, but said that a store 15/20 miles away did. Sigh.

So instead I picked out a pair for Mommy instead:

yay! And he got the right ones? My hubby is good, but there's no way he'd get the right ones unless I sent him out with a photo and the exact item number (and maybe even the exact location in the store where he could find them). lol

Nicole that is great that Travis found the shoes. Your new pair are adorable!!

I know what you mean about the way you're brought up. I'm a northern living in the south...there are just somethings that seem totally 'off' to my northern brain.

Not yet! Yesterday my son said "Should I mash this right here?" (He was trying to use one of my paper punches and I almost started laughing because of the verb he used. Mash and Boot (aka trunk) and the two funniest ones for me to get used to. In addition to the amount of sweet tea these people drink and how early they give it to their kiddos (I once saw a lady put it into a bottle for an 8 month old).

Well... I guess he did kinda cheat. ;) He saw the photo when I was getting ready to post it here. At the last store we went to, the lady gave me a $3.00 off coupon for the shoes if we did end up driving out to Hanover. My hubby works in York, which is just as far from home here in Lancaster as it is to the mall in Hanover. So, he saw the coupon on the table in the morning and said, "Hmm... I bet I could do that over my lunch break!" Then he snuck out of the house and surprised me with the shoes that evening! My hero! :superman:

Anyway, there WAS a code for the shoes on that coupon and that he help him to know that they were indeed the right ones. But he found them himself on the shelf, so he does get credit for that! Probably wasn't to hard, seeing as they are the ONLY pair of white dress shoes in a three county area!
