View Full Version : Diagnostic exams....

After my annual exam, I walked out with two referrals (in addition to blood work requests):
- diagnostic mammogram (for an oval/ovoid mass on the right)
- pelvic ultrasound (for ovarian cysts)
I had the ultrasound today. The tech confirmed that I have at least one ovarian cyst on each ovary, and that my fibroid is still there. However, he wouldn't say anything more, except that they have plenty to look at. Hmph.
Let's hope there's nothing outside the "normal" type of cyst. Prayers and positive thoughts would be helpful at this point.

Oh geez Rachel - I hate when they just give you vague information for you to worry about! Praying for good results and for you to just have normal stuff going on :)

I should know by the end of Thursday, at least about the ovaries. I have to get through that first before I even think about the mammogram (scheduled for next Monday).

I'm so sorry they wouldn't tell you more than that. My mom had an ultrasound like that once (the u/s tech saw something that usually leads to miscarriage but couldn't tell her that, so she just said "the baby's measuring right and that's all I can say"...baby's now 9, so the tech was wrong :giggle:) and she was a wreck. I can't imagine wondering and worrying.
You might want to avoid googling things, though :giggle: Seems too easy to find worst-case scenarios out there for just about anything.
I'm glad you get to find out tomorrow, though. I'll be praying everything is perfectly fine

Well, I got the results today.
I have fibroids. Now I knew I had *1* fibroid, so it's news to me that there are more.
Everything looks normal.
However, if my period continues and is still present on Monday (9/29), they'll likely give me a referral to an ob/gyn. At that point, I will have had my period for 14 days - which is way longer than I can handle.....

Whoot ... glad everything is okay. Prayers that the period will go away.
