View Full Version : Too many doctor's visits today....

For my first appointment, I did a diagnostic mammogram:

I had a diagnostic mammogram today on my right breast (my dr found a mass there last week).

The results?

Complex cyst cluster, precisely where my doctor felt it - BENIGN! Okay, they actually said "3 - Probably Benign" but I'll go with the benign. :)

I do have to go and have another mammogram in 6 months, then start my regularly scheduled ones next fall (after I turn 40 and they are yearly).

And for my second appointment, I saw an ob/gyn (TMI: I'm on Day #14 of my period and counting):

I'm on 10 days of a progestin to stop my period, and they did a procedure to check on the endometrial lining (if you're the kind that likes to Google: endometrial pipelle biopsy). That was not a fun procedure.

Depending on the results, I'm looking at birth control style hormones to keep me on track. She said my options are the Nuva Ring, the pill, or the patch. The patch is my least fave option (I tried it 3-5 years ago and had two migraines in 10 days).

Hopefully everything will get worked out quickly! Sounds like you deserve a day of pampering after all those icky doctor appointments!

I have to say the patch isn't real high on my list either, but that's more cause it wasn't an entirely effective method of birth control for me, and by not entirely effective, I mean let me introduce you to dd #3. LOL. Looking back I am blessed it wasn't effective but I wasn't thinking that at the time :fool:.

I wouldn't be using birth control methods for birth control (DH had the snip snip 9 years ago), but to regulate hormones. That is their "first line defense" in why i'm having ...ahem..."abnormal uterine bleeding" when I'm not in menopause or pregnant....

oh man - what a day! I hope they figure things out for you quickly!

On a side note - ahem - do you have time to take that pumpkin photo for me? If you could get the roloff's in the picture it'd be even sweeter. I'm such a fan of that show :)

so glad to read your post!! I had been thinking about you over the weekend and wondering how things were going! I know that the birth control and other stuff is no fun, but am so thankful that it was simply cysts on your mammogram!

It will be the weekend of the 10th before I can get over that way....I'll see if I can get a friend with kids to come along with me so I don't look so odd just getting pictures of a pumpkin patch!

:D

Awesome news about the cysts being benign. Sounds like your hormones are whacking hard--hopefully they will help you get it resolved. Did they suggest a D and C just to clean things out, sometimes that helps.

Hugs!

I think they are waiting to see the results of the biopsy first before suggesting a D&C.

All I can say is, they better drug me up if they are doing anything like that biopsy again. I had to drive myself home after that in rush hour traffic, while my poor pelvic area is still cramping....
