(I wrote this about two hours ago)
I'm still shaking.
We left at 8:15 to drop DH off at work and head out to see my mom. It was icy, but we hoped it was just our driveway/car.
Nope.
The main roads were okay, but the side roads hadn't been iced and were covered in ice.
We made it, cautiously, to the office. Their parking lot was covered with a sheet of ice, so I climbed through the car to the driver's side.
Pulled up, slowly, to the road and waited for a chance to turn left out, when MIL and FIL turned in.
Coming too fast, because they had a semi bearing down on them.
And bumped the side of our car. Jasmine's side.
She's fine.
The car should be okay, as long as they replace the door (update: the collision guy looked at it and said they can fix it...that should be next week).
I was okay at the moment, but as time went by, I got more and more shaky.
So DH drove us home. And we took a detour to avoid an accident that happened where we'd been just 10 minutes earlier.
I made the mistake of telling Jasmine we'd make cookies, so she wasn't so upset that we weren't going to see Anne', so she wanted to make them immediately. I can barely stand up, I'm so shaken.
And DH called about 10 minutes after he left, which freaked me out. He'd stopped at Walgreens for Sudafed and was calling to see which kind he was supposed to get/avoid, but my first thought was that he'd been in another accident.
Jasmine's really cute about it (after crying pretty hysterically immediately after it). She says the cars "did cheers" .
I can't believe I thought about driving in these conditions! We turned on the radio on the way home, and there were accidents all over the place; they only mentioned "on-ramps and off-ramps" and "war-zone like areas from all the spinouts" without saying where all the crashes were, it was that bad.
So I'm thankful that God kept us safe, but I can't wait until I've calmed down a little more.
