I just broke my brand new Nikon D60 that I got 3 weeks ago. AAAAAAaaaaah! I could slam myself if that would fix it!! :fool: I took it to work after my lunch break, and the bag fell . Didn't seem to serious at that moment, the bag is supposed to be protective, so I didn't even bother having a look inside. At 5 pm I opened it and the lense was separated... Uhoh, not good. A tiny plastic bit in the lens' part that hold it together with the camera itself is broken. It's really tiny, but enough to ruin the whole thing: the lense don't stay in place anymore now. I feel like such an idiot!!! Anyone have a time machine to get me back to midday, please??? AAAAAAaaaaaaah (again)!!!

Well, it looks like the warranty doesn't cover damages, only malfunctions... So if I can't fix it (I'm so desperate I even considered glueing the plastic part back to the lens), I will have to buy a new lens, and I can't afford it right now! I'm so mad at myself!!

Oh, how frustrating!! Is the lens very espensive? My camera came with the "kit" lens that retails for less than $100. Of course, it's the only lens I have!!

Well, I would only try to glue the bit on the lense, not to the camera!! If the lense is ruined for real and has to be tossed, at least I could tell myself that I tried anything.

did you buy it on a credit card? Ours covers damage or loss within the first 90 days. Try that first - no deductible on those usually. My dog ate my brand new glasses and they replaced them at no charge.

Great idea!!Since I bought it on the internet, I used my card, but I'm not sure if it has that kind of insurance! I'll check with my bank.

I went to the shop today and they confirmed that it isn't covered by the Nikon warranty and that it would be more expensive to repair it than to get a new lens. I still have to check with my insurance and with the credit card, otherwise I'll buy a new one!

By the way, if anyone has any help for a terribly awkward girl, I'll take it!! Seriously, this is driving me nuts: I already broke this camera, dropped my palm in the mop water, forgot my cell in the train, hurt myself by bumping in walls so many times I can't count, broke more plates than you could imagine... I'm so out of real life!!!:fool:
