I was thinking last night about movies that I love and was shocked to find out that they were based on books. For some reason, the books have been all but forgotten but are really good in their own right.

Princess Bride (http://www.amazon.com/Princess-Bride-Morgensterns-Classic-Adventure/dp/0156035219/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239453049&sr=8-2) is one of the best books I've read, but I didn't realize for a long time that the movie wasn't the original. It is SO funny!

Who's Got the Drumstick, the movie Yours, Mine and Ours is based on, is so cool. Unfortunately I think it's out of print now, but if you can get your hands on a copy, it's fantastic :good:

The Story of the Trapp Family Singers (http://www.amazon.com/Story-Trapp-Family-Singers/dp/0060005777/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239453133&sr=8-1) is amazing. I love Julie Andrews and the music in Sound of Music, but the book has so many more fun, fascinating stories that they obviously couldn't have had time for.

Winnie-The-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner (http://www.amazon.com/World-Pooh-Complete-Winnie-Pooh/dp/0525444475/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239453220&sr=8-3) are my favorite children's books, hands down. The girls are finally old enough to hear an entire story in one sitting, and they're SO much funnier than the movies :good:

What have you come across?

I LOVE the Winnie the Pooh books (hate the Disney movies). Travis has been reading them to the kids and they are so full of the funniest little things and subtle humor... LOVE them. :D

I was surprised that the "Borne" movies were from a book. Now I'd like to try to read them (because I'm guessing it will be better).
