Domain Name?

If you have bought domain names who have you got them from? Does it make any difference?

I bought mine before I really knew anything! I'm hoping someone far more knowledgable answers this, too, but I bought mine from godaddy.com. The first one I bought from Yahoo, but I think there are much better places...godaddy.com has been fine. I don't really host there, I just bought the domains and then forwarded them to my blog.

I think the Digichick was purchased through GoDaddy, too. We love our hosting service, though: HostGator (http://secure.hostgator.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=webseitler). It says that they also do domain registration as well! A one stop shop!

For my other site (webeitler.com/sugarplumpaperie.com) we use BlueHost and for the most part, we've been happy with them, too... but we're going to probably move everything over to HostGator before our time with BlueHost expires.

LOVE HostGator's customer service... and we survived NSD here at the Digichick. What better recommendation for a host can you give?! :D

Yeh - same here. I am with godaddy but they are getting pricey. Plus they quoted me one price but charged another. I am going back and forwards with them over this.

I have used Hostgator and Blue Host. Found Blue better with service but like Hostgators interface better. I am with a private guy in Canada at the moment but he doesn't have a cpanel though. Fab service and very helpful.

Thanks for the names of good hosts! DH is working on changing to a new webhost and they're not sure the one they've chosen is going to work, so I told him about HostGator :good: He's heard about it, so it's good to hear that you're so happy with them!

OT: Sharon, where are you in Canada?

We had ours (bowenyard.com) through TuCows but that was because we knew the management through work. I have no idea who we are with now, dh handles all that!

Oh, and we are hosted through my company, but dh hasn't updated the site in years. It really isn't that easy the way we are doing it now, and he had to actually write all the html for the site, not that practical.
