The Mother's Day craft thread got me thinking - do you have a favorite craft to do with your kids? Ours is sidewalk chalk - because then it actually gets used!

1 cup Plaster of Paris (we use the DAP kind made for crafts)
Mix in approx 3/4 cup water
Add liquid or powder tempera paint to "taste"
Mix well and let stand for 2-3 minutes
Pour into molds - soap molds, candy molds, whatever!
Let dry completely and remove from molds
Let dry an additional 24 hours before using

FUN!

That is great Tracy, I had no idea you could make it at home! We have our hands full with just doing the regular painting, card-making, play-dough. I don't know why, but we usually end up with huge mess whenever the art supplies come out!

it doesn't get any better as they get older Heather - my dd is 13 and now uses my supplies - then I have to go hunt for things like my tape runner, sharp scissors, etc. LOL

Yeah, sidewalk chalk is "THE THING" around here and I got tired of paying 99 cents for 4 or 5 sticks, when I could pay $3 for a 4lb box of PofP at AC Moore (with 40% off, lol). We already had the paint and the molds around, so it's super cheap to make it ourselves. Plus, cute shapes are a lot more fun than sticks.

Well, look at me getting all frugal and stuff! You all are totally rubbing off on me!
