I have two flower tutorials for you to try today. The first is a hybrid Chrysanthemum:

supplies:
1. Geeky Diva Designs' Pumpkin Lantern (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Pumpkin-Lantern-Hybrid-Templates-and-Cutting-Files.html) cutting files

2. Digital kit of your choice (or pattern paper or cardstock)
3. Ink (optional)
4. Glue
5. Paintbrush (optional)
6. Glitter glue (optional)
7. Cutting Machine and Software (I used the Cricut expression and Make the Cut)

And here is a hybrid Peony:

I used the DigiCuts Shields (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/DigCuts-Shields.html) template for this flower:

Seriously great stuff Dalis! I always find it so amazing how people take a template for one thing and make it into something completely different.

Quick question - to participate in this challenge, do you have to use one of these 2 flower templates or is the challenge just to make a hybrid flower? Sorry!! I'm a bit confused....but hoping to play along!

Hmm. That is a good question! :good: I'd say that the challenge is to make a hybrid flower out of a unique shape using a template of some sort. It doesn't have to be one of the items Dalis used.

Oh wow, this has me thinking of new possibilities for making flowers from all sorts of shapes! You could use punches (think squares, ovals, hearts, circles, etc) or dies (think labels, hexagons, hats, etc).... or how about even making flowers just from the strange shaped scraps of paper you end up with after you've cut some of your punch/die shapes?! Wouldn't that be fun???!!!

Cathy, I like how you think. :) I don't have a cutter, and I detest cutting things out, so I made my flower petals using two heart punches in different sizes. Here's my project... (click through to the gallery to see it larger....!)

that was my idea... run get some of those templates meant for something else... hide from the template police and make it into a flower. Sorry for the delay ladies, but my little one has been with a really bad asthma and not getting better. We are finally down to breathing treatments every 6 hours FINALLY!!!!! (off to knock on some wood)
