Hello everyone!! La'Shawn here to bring you the second workshop since bringing this challenges back to TDC and my first workshop. I am super nervous and I really hope that you like what I have. I dont have anything hybrid for you. (I am just no good at the glue thing. But if anyone would like to do some hybrid, I love looking at it!!)

So...I am a journaler. About 90% of my layouts have journaling on them and a good bit of journaling as well. However, in asking and reading interviews and questionairs of other scrappers, it seems that one of the main struggle points with scrappers is journaling. So, I have come up with a month long workshop to get those journaling juices flowing.

I dont know about you, but when I cant write/talk about anything else, I can talk about my emotions. Be it Joy, fear, sadness, anger, or envy. So, that is what we are going to do. I am going to give you a few prompts and we are going to journal them in our layouts. You can scrap a specific instance that brings about that emotions. A past experience. About people. About inanimate objects. The past, the present, or the future. You can do it like a journal or just a straight up scrapbook page with some journaling on it. So lets get to it!!

Each week, I will add a new post with another couple of emotions for you to scrap/journal. There are 10 emotions in all. That breaks down to 2 a week. I tried to go with a positive and a negative emotion each week. I will keep a linked list of those posts here in this first thread so that you can easily find the pieces you will need to complete your journal.
Week #1 prompts (http://www.thedigichick.com/forums/showthread.php?34786-Workshop-September-Emotions-Journal&p=407475&viewfull=1#post407475)
Week #2 prompts
(http://www.thedigichick.com/forums/showthread.php?34786-Workshop-September-Emotions-Journal&p=409376&viewfull=1#post409376)
Week #3 Prompts (http://www.thedigichick.com/forums/showthread.php?34786-Workshop-September-Emotions-Journal&p=410193&viewfull=1#post410193)
Prompt #4 (http://www.thedigichick.com/forums/showthread.php?34786-Workshop-September-Emotions-Journal&p=410831&viewfull=1#post410831)
Prompt #5 (http://www.thedigichick.com/forums/showthread.php?34786-Workshop-September-Emotions-Journal&p=411184&viewfull=1#post411184)

You have the whole month to complete this challenge and earn points, so feel free to jump in at any point in the month. After October 5, 2011, the challenge and downloads will still be available, but you will no longer be able to earn points for completion. If you complete this album, upload your pics in the TDC gallery, and link us up back here in this thread, you will earn 5 points.

Here's is the fine print of TDC Challenge Rules:

You must use at least 75% Digichick Goodies on your layout to qualify for points.
When you’ve finished your layout, come back to this post and leave a comment with a link to your layout. (Feel free to use our open gallery (http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/) here at the Digichick if you need a place to upload your layout. We even have a spot just for challenge entries (http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=509)!)
You will earn 1 Point for each part of this challenge that you complete.
For more information about our Chickie Points System, please see this thread here.
The deadline for this challenge is September 30th.

Are you feeling emotional yet?!? :) Do you feel like taking pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard. lol)? Well....lets get started!!!

Whew, that was a lot! I hope you are still with me. :yeshuh: So here is your first two emotions prompts to journal.

#1: Joy
: the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires : delight b : the expression or exhibition of such emotion : gaiety
: a state of happiness or felicity : bliss
: a source or cause of delight

#2: Sadness
: affected with or expressive of grief or unhappiness
: causing or associated with grief or unhappiness

So, that's it. :) You will need to scrap a page journaling about these two emotions. Be it a little bit of journaling or a lot. I am going for a lot, but not everyone has that in them.

I also have a small freebie word art for everyone. Nothing fancy. But just to get the creative juices flowing:

You can click HERE (http://www.4shared.com/file/dJ0rRxTV/JC_WA_SBS.html) to download it if you want it.

and here are my two layouts for these two prompts:

You did a great job on the challenge and the LO's as examples. Just a quick question...are we to make 2 LO's, and if so, do we collect 2 points, or do the 2 LO's together get only 1 point?

There are two prompts a week. You just have to use the two prompts in order to get the point. You can use the prompts how you wish (be it one layout, two, or more even.) but you will need to journal about both. 2 prompts for one week. Each weeks prompt equals 1 point for a total of 5. Does that make it clear as mud? ;) I know it might seem like a lot to some. But you have a month...I promise it isn't a lot. But its what makes it a workshop. :) You don't have to scrap a full page of journaling for it it count....unless you want to. :D

So we include both prompts in either one page or two, and we get one point total for that? I think that's what you said, right? :)

Thanks for the explanation. I always find it difficult to journal about my emotions, so will see what I can come up with. I am trying to learn from challenges, and being new at the site, am trying to learn the rules for the workshops before getting started and doing it all wrong.
You did a great job on the examples...thanks for that too.

and you are very welcome and welcome to TDC! I am glad you are jumping right in! I know as scrappers we sent not to scrap about ourselves. Especially our emotions. So, I thought this would be a great challenge and actually might be a challenge. ;)

Here is joy. I'll be back to edit my post with sadness when I get it done.

http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/data/500/Joy_web2.jpg (http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=131874&title=joy&cat=500)
Journaling reads: "I absolutely love how joyful you are. I am amazed at how such a little child could find so many things to smile about. Your favorite thing is when people talk directly to you, and make eye contact. You love it when people pay attention to you! I think you just like for people to see you as an actual human, and not a "thing." You also really love Mr. Bear. He is your car seat companion, and you two like to hug or give each other kisses in the car. You also really like when people hold you and spend time with you. When people do things you like, you get the biggest grin on your face! Sometimes you even chuckle a little bit, even if you're too young to really laugh completely. You're getting there. Seeing you have so much joy brings me so much joy! I love to watch you smile and laugh. It makes me smile, too. I also really like it when you chatter and babble. It makes me so joyful and happy. You are such an amazing child, and a true blessing in my life!"

09-12-2011, 07:37 PM
Here is the second prompt! :) Sorry it is a bit late. I have been having issues with my computer and my tooth. But here we go.

#3: Love
: strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties <maternal love for a : attraction based on sexual desire : affection and tenderness felt by lovers (3) : affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests <love for his old schoolmates> b : an assurance of affection <give her my love>
: warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion <love of the sea>
: the object of attachment, devotion, or admiration <baseball was his first love>

#4: Fear
: frighten
: to feel fear in (oneself)
: to have a reverential awe of <fear God>
: to be afraid of : expect with alarm <fear the worst>

Here is my example layout. I decided to join the two prompts together. To show you dont have to do two different layouts. You can do one if you feel so led. ;)

Journaling says:
"Wow! The feeling of enormous joy and delight at having a second child.
I sensed it the minute the pregnancytest was positive and the feeling kept on growing during the following nine months, despite an at times crappy pregnancy. It exploded when he was born.
The family is now complete. We do not need anyting else, nothing more. I am really very happy about having my two boys.
I am a "boymama", despite the fact that I don't particularly enjoy crawling around on the floor playing with cars and trains and Lego...
So, generally I can safely say I fell bliss."

I'm just gonna have to realize that I won't be able to finish this workshop and get the points for it... :( (I will get the points for the ones I have finished though, won't I?)

These emotions were a lot harder than I first thought, and I have had a low week, with no digi-scrapping (in fact I've learned how to crochet amigurumis... :) so more of a handicrafty week for me... :) ).

Now I'm going to jump in to the last two of the challenges, to get all of those done...
I'm still gonna try to finish the workshop after the fact, though...
