I love speed scraps, do you? I hope so, cause we're having one this afternoon! It'll start at 3pm EST. I'll be back with all the details when it gets closer to 3pm. However- I'll let you in on one thing:

I've got goodies to give away. Julie (Sherwood Studio), Danyale (Etc By Danyale), and Nathalie (eNKay designs) have graciously provided me with prizes to give away.

So come on back. Chat and scrap starts at 3pm (: Get excited!

--------

OKAY, here we go! Are you ready to have a little fun? I'm excited.

Here's the plan. We're gonna chat and scrap. Best way to scrap, in my opinion. This speed scrap is gonna be a recipe scrap. For the first two hour (3-6pm EST), I'll reveal a step in the recipe and we'll all chat (I'll post up the steps in this first post so you don't have to go searching through the thread to find them). You can either scrap along with each step, or you can wait until all of the steps have been announced. After I've announced them all, you will have another hour (5-6pm EST) to either post or scrap your page using at least 75% digichick products. Make sense?

We have some incentives, too! Julie (Sherwood Studio (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Sherwood-Studio/)) has graciously given me a coupon code for everyone who participates. Isn't that awesome? And then, after everyone has finished their layouts and posted them here in the thread, I'll pick four layouts (randomly, picked out of a hat) and those three people will win goodies. I've got prizes from Julie, Danyale (ETC by Danyale (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Etc-by-Danyale/)) and Nathalie (eNKay Design (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/eNKay-Design/)) up for grabs. I love the designers here, they're all so wonderful (:

So, are we ready for the first step? I'll reveal it in about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, kick back, open up your scrapping program of choice, gather up your favorite digichick products, and settle in.

the steps will go here. (: just to keep it organized.

1) choose two papers- one bold paper (will be your main background, must see at least 50% of the paper on the page), one solid paper. create the base of your layout with these papers.

2) create 6 paper strips from other papers or use 6 ribbons, strings, or wires. or do a combination of the two options. arrange them on your page.

3) choose 2 photos- one will be large (4x4 or larger), one will be small (2x2 or smaller). arrange your photos however you would like on the page.

4) choose 5 different elements. they will be the only elements (except the strings/ribbons/wires if you've already used them) used on your page. arrange them however you'd like.

5) create your title. use 2 different alphas, or 1 alpha and 1 font.

6) add your journaling. make it as little as just the date and place, or a much as a story or a letter.

sorry! i should have really put a clock or something in the post.
i'm a firm believer that timezones are useless and just exist to confuse people.

should i let people catch up? before i post the 4th step? or should i post it and then let people catch up? i'm trying to scrap as i do the steps, which is why it's taking more than 10 minutes between each, lol.

designergirlscraps
09-24-2011, 05:20 PM
there's only a couple people here. so it's sort of a slow... speed scrap. (slow speed scrap, there's an oxymoron right there)

it's a weird time i think.. oh well. i'm glad people are here!

LivyBug
09-24-2011, 05:23 PM
I think you should go ahead and post the next steps every 10 mins... then people who wait til the end to scrap aren't waiting so long. KWIM?

step four:
- choose 5 different elements. they will be the only elements (except the strings/ribbons/wires if you've already used them) used on your page. arrange them however you'd like.

question on step 5...5 different elements...one each or can we use more then one of the same element as long as we have 5 different types?

5 different kinds. i had: 3 of the same flower (which counted as 1), a journaling card, a ricrack, a glitter trim, and a flower trim. just don't go overboard with the multiples.

I am so sad I missed this!!! We had a family day, so I'm not sad about that, but I wish I could have been in two places at once and done the SS, too!

Bummer! I didn't know about the speed scrap until it was already well underway and didn't have time to put anything together. Is there any way the next one can be announced a day or two in advance? That would maybe make it easier for people to be there too... :)

designergirlscraps

aw! i'm sad you guys couldn't make it. it's my fault for not saying anything earlier. BUT, now that i've learned, i'll definitely advertise the next one. i'll see if nicole can put a flyer in the newsletter, maybe. (:

I could be wrong, but I would think this is a bigger issue than what time it is. It would have been a perfect time for me if I'd known about it. It's unlikely I'd come to any that are later than that.

Also, daylight saving time is still in effect, so it should be EDT, not EST. Might be why using time zone convertors doesn't work for some people.
