View Full Version : December 11: Card Caravan Challenge #8 - Two

11-21-2011, 11:20 AM
Welcome! Melissa here to tell you about our eighth Card Caravan Challenge which is being hosted on The Hybrid Chick (http://www.thehybridchick.com/2011/12/card-caravan-challenge-8-two/).

Our next challenge is "two". I was inspired to have this be our challenge as today is my mom and brother's birthdays! You could interpret this to be a card for a second birthday, two buttons, two ribbons, two layers, or even two cards. The sky's the limit! Here is some inspiration from our card caravan team:

Julie made some two amazing ornaments with The Cutting Files' Artisan Labels Set 1 (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Artisan-Labels-Set-1.html) and Danielle Engelbretson's Vision of Sugarplums (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Visions-of-Sugarplums-The-Kit.html).

Cathy created an adorable card with two penguins. She used lots of Pengiun Pal products from Paper Garden Projects: Penguin Pal Deck the Halls Digital Elements (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Penguin-Pals-Deck-the-Halls-Digital-Elements.html), Penguin Pals Tags and Borders Digital Elements (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Penguin-Pals-Tags-and-Borders-Digital-Elements.html), Penguin Pals Snow Flurry Papers (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Penguin-Pals-Snow-Flurry-Papers.html), and Christmas Sentiments Digital Stamps (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Christmas-Sentiments-Digital-Stamps.html) by Arty Pants.

LuAnn took the "two" theme to an extreme and used 2 papers from Sarah Jone's A Bushel and A Peck (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/A-Bushel-and-a-Peck-Papers.html) paper pack using 2 layers. She added 2 rows of double twine with 2 double bows and she used 2 different sentiments from Paper Smooches to create the sentiment.

I created two cards were made using Sugarplum Paperie's beautiful Comfort and Joy (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Comfort-and-Joy-Collection.html).

Is there a tutorial for Julie's ornament anywhere? I have scoured the internet and can not find one :( I can't figure out how she keeps her center together...
Thanks for any help!

Such lovely projects!

Here are my 2 (2 snowflake ornaments). I'm using one of them as a bow on my package. :yeshuh:

Its a simple little project, but if you'd like to make one, there is a free Silhouette cutting file on my blog (http://papergardenprojects.com/blog/2011/12/19/snowflake-ornament-freebie/) that will cut the 6 snowflake shapes you need.

I used papers from the Owl Wear Woolies kit (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Owl-Wear-Woolies-Digital-Kit.html), Penguin Pals Snow Flurry Papers (http://www.thedigichick.com/shop/Penguin-Pals-Snow-Flurry-Papers.html), and a paper from the Paper Garden Projects Facebook Fan Freebie (http://www.facebook.com/PaperGardenProjects).

Very cute, Catherine! Thanks for the cutting file! I've been wanting to make some snowflake ornaments for some friends with a little saying about 'Friends are like snowflakes: each is different and special in their own way...' Something like that, lol.

You're welcome Krista :)

I've been playing with my Silhouette a lot today and having a blast. I made some little gift bags and money envelopes - I even cut out the tags with the Silhouette (just because I could LOL!)

I still have a lot to learn, but it really is such a fun little gadget.

Hi Krista the instructions I used to make my ornament are available as a free PDF download from the Echo Park website. The instructions are for a round ornament but once you've had a go it'll be easy to see how to adapt it to other shapes. Here's a link to Echo Park page. http://echopark.mybigcommerce.com/ornament-box-ornaments-project/
hope that helps.
