January 2012 :: Desktop Challenge
Wow. How did a year go by so darn fast?! It's amazing isn't it? As I thought about a challenge this month I thought we could mix in a few things. January is always a month of new beginnings. You will have the chance to participate in SO MANY amazing challenges throughout the year. One of them starts 1/6/12 which is the one little word challenge. You're going to love it!
For our january desktop I want us to try to incorerate 2 things.
1. White Space
2. Color
This year many of us are trying to simplify our lives. What better way to show that than by an organized and clean desktop workspace? You'll note in my desktop that I have a location especially for my icons. I also snuck my "one word" for the year on my desktop. I plan on doing this throughout the year so I don't forget. Perhaps you can join me in that as well?

How to create a Desktop Background ::
The first thing you need to do is find out your screen resolution. To find this out just follow the directions below::
Windows 7 > Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display > Screen Resolution
There it will say something like Resolution :: 1280x720 Mine is 1920x1080
Mac > System Preferences > Displays > Resolutions
There should be a list there of resolution sizes.
I learned a little trick. If you hit the PrtScn button on your keyboard then open up your image editing program (I use PS CS5) then go to File > New it will have the size right there. (be sure to switch the dpi to 300 since we use high res graphics) I make a new file then paste and of course it pastes my current desktop on there. I use dual-monitors so this is helpful for me. My resolution then would be 3840x1080.
So basically you can create a new layer and start with your own clean slate! Scrap a desktop layout! It can be anything!
Here’s the fine print:
You must use at least 75% Digichick Goodies on your layout to qualify for points.
When you’ve finished your layout, come back to this post and leave a comment with a link to your layout. (Feel free to use our open gallery (http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/) here at the Digichick if you need a place to upload your layout. We even have a spot just for challenge entries! (http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=509))
You will earn 1 Point for participating in this challenge.
For more information about our Chickie Points System, please see this thread here (http://www.thedigichick.com/forums/showthread.php?34471-Chickie-Points-System%21).
The deadline for this challenge is January 31st.
