View Full Version : Have you noticed this?

It has been my experience, that when a lay out comes easy to me, I get lots of comments, lots of love. But, the pages that I really struggle with, and work really hard on, usually get very little love. Isn't that interesting? Is that how it goes for you, too? Do you think it is because when a page comes easy to you, it is a better reflection of yourself?

Yes Nora, yes, yes, yes!
I think that we have to find our own 'groove' and stay in it... yes, we grow, we change, but when we do our craft, the art that flows out of it is US. It's who we are, w/ our own personal touches.
When we struggle... it's usually because we are trying to be like someone else and not being who we were created to be.

I've noticed that sometimes, Nora. This layout, though (http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/17920/cat/500/ppuser/1958) came really fast for me...so fast that I couldn't go to sleep without doing it. I've only had 13 views and 3 comments on it, though, so who knows--maybe it's not a good reflection. I just read the journaling to DH, though, and got choked up (remember, I AM pregnant and hormonal!), so I think it's pretty accurate and reliable. Who knows what people like and what they don't, you know?

OOooo, Sinead! That page is really wonderful! People must not have opened the page, because they surely would have loved it.
It seems if your thumbnail doesn't have that "pop" factor, or you post the wrong time of day, you get very little attention. I have had lots of LOs with just a couple of views. Doesn't really bother me, but sometimes I kind of wonder why. (I have to ammend that! I went and checked again, curiosity you know, and since I advertised my gallery on my blog, the views went up.)

I agree...it seems like the pages I took the longest on are the ones that don't get much love at all. And yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if, most of the time, anyways, it isn't as "me" a page.
Sinead, I have no idea why that page didn't get much love...it's gorgeous and soooo sweet!!
I love that we put up occasional threads for "this one didn't get any love" so we can go back and shower it on the layouts that meant a lot to the creator. :) Sounds like it's about time for another one!!

I've noticed this as well! A recent LO I did of my niece was super-quick, a scraplift in fact, and I got more comments then ever before. But I think that had more to do with the photos being eye-catching. Then I struggled and struggled with one on our recent hospital stay, actually started from scratch several times, and only got a few comments. I'm trying to get better about not being so obssessed with getting comments! And with commenting more on other people's LOs!

Nora, I agree...if it doesn't "pop" in the gallery, it won't get the views, and therefore the comments.
(this is part of why the post I wrote about how to make my pictures pop :)

Yes, I have noticed that. I think its totally obvious (even if it varies from my usual style) when I "force" a layout. It just looks off and thus less comments.

YES, YES, and YES. I have also noticed that I get little or no comments on a LO and then if I go to the gallery and leave comments on all the LOs in the gallery then I get more comments. But, ya all have to remember that our LOs are really for us and they are fun to do and if people want to leave comments that's great it gives us encouragement. But, if they don't, don't be discouraged. After all it's our families and the memories we are leaving for them that count.

I have got to "second that", Chris. What a wonderful thing to remember. Who are these layouts for? Us or "them"? I have done some layouts and not gotten any comments; but I did the layouts for me and my family. So, I'll keep on trying and leaving layouts and I'll get some comments, or not. I just love doing this "digi-stuff". And I think my family likes what I do.

Thanks, ladies. You guys made me smile. :) I'll have to make some free time tomorrow to go hang in the gallery. :)
