Oh, girls...I think I'm in the running for the Worst Mom of the Year award!!

Seriously though, we had a little event play out this evening and it got me to thinking...it might be fun to fess up to some of our more "human" mommy moments. No judgement here - just sharing the realization that we're all capable of making mistakes from time to time!

So, I'll go first:
Camille has been fighting us tooth and nail at bedtime. Tonight, I resolved to give her a little spanking if she didn't stay in her bed, and we have a talk at bedtime about staying in her bed. Sure enough, she gets up not 10 minutes later and is running around upstairs. I go in and talk with her and tell her that she disobeyed Mommy. I give her three little "pats" on her bottom, not enough to really hurt her, but certainly enough to crush me. She starts crying and says, "But, Mommy, I made poo poo!" Sure enough, she's got diarrhea. I just spanked my little girl for doing nothing more than being uncomfortable in her diaper. I am, indeed, a mean ol' mommy.

Not mean, just human. We've all had little goofs like that, I'm sure.

Maggie is trying to give up naps (actually, since she hasn't napped in a week, maybe she's given them up!). We've gone this route before, and on one day she was exhausted and had been for days and I was determined that she would nap. Everything thing was going well and she went down, but 30 minutes in, she was up and out. I was really aggravated and frustrated (since I knew that she'd probably be a wreck all afternoon) and gave her a serious talking to. Only when I was putting her back down did she sit up and puke all over me. It was the beginning of two days of vomiting--thanks, so much strep throat! (I NEVER knew that vomiting could be a symptom of strep!)

I felt like an ***, but I just told her I was sorry and didn't know that she was sick. She didn't care at all as long as I held her and snuggled her.

Bottom line, you're not the worst mommy. :regular_s Hang in there--hopefully tomorow will be better!

Sinead, as a child that was always my first sign of strep throat. Last time I had it (4 years ago) I didn't vomit but was sick to my stomach for a couple days before my throat started hurting. I'm glad you learned that now, but how sad!!

I have one or two but I'm totally blanking right now. So I'll come back when I remember :)

Wanna hear mine? lol - yesterday, it was over 100 degrees outside and it was TORTUROUS hot! So CRAZY here decided to tote my two youngest to the mall so we could have lunch in the food court and then shop for some bigger clothes (since mine are getting pretty tight, lol!) and sure enough, I started regretting it about 15 minutes into the trip! lol! First, we had to go to the restroom because it never fails that EVERYONE has to pee right away (inc me right now, lol!) so ds went first. THANK GOD I didn't go first b/c as he's standing there doing his thang a COCKROACH started crawling up the wall and then onto the toilet TOWARDS ds. I seriously flipped out and yanked him away poor kid! So we run to another stall (I didn't even bother flushing!) and he still had to go... (I am soooo disappointed in my mall! These restrooms were just re-done a few years ago! sheesh!) THEN we get our food, eat and make our way out. Auntie Anne's is right outside the food court in the mall and they wanted a pretzel. Well, I didn't get the one ds wanted (got the sticks instead) and he had a meltdown right there at the register... with half the mall staring at me. :whatchuta So I grabbed him by the arm and started dragging him away and he throws himself on the floor. Aye aye aye! But I'm determined to get something so we head over to Forever 21 (they have the CUTEST loose tops right now! Perfect for my growing belly!) and he's running all over the store. So what does mommy do? I grab him by the ear (b/c he refused to hold my hand) and he starts shouting OW OW OW OW! Omgoodness! I could feel the veins popping out! lol! I grabbed my two tops and out we went. I don't know WHY I haven't learned. TWO toddlers and the mall DO NOT MIX! ROFLOL! So mean mommy here tortured her babies by taking them to the MALL... hee hee!

It gets better...... I promise it does....... when my youngest was born, we took him to the mall at 2 days old.... along with his brother age 16 months and 2 sisters age 4 and 6.......... THAT was a chore....... not bad at all now, except they know what credit cards are!

My DD is almost 18 and just graduated. Back in the fall, we were talking about college and she said that she didn't want to "go away" but she'd do her AA degree at CC and then transfer to a 4-year. I was okay with that even though I thought she should get to experience the full college life (okay... maybe because I didn't get to). But I didn't force her to apply to a 4-year college.

In the spring, when other kids started getting acceptance letters, she freaked out and was depressed about not applying. So we went up to Western (she loved it) and took a tour, etc. She was so excited that she didn't want to come back home. She wants to do a dual-major (business and poly-sci) so she said that she was going to go to community college for summer and fall while she applies to Western (to go in winter).

I scrimped and saved to pull together tuition and money for books/fees to get her in for summer quarter so she can transfer. So we buy the books, she's all registered, and then she tells me on Sunday that she wants to drop one of the classes because it's "too hard"... I about flipped. She is sooooo smart. She's been going to community college (through Running Start) her last year and a half of high school, so it isn't like she can't handle it... she's just being lazy. So then I was the meanest mom in the world because I was going to make her take that class. Grrrrr. And I was even meaner for telling her that she has tremendous potential and she shouldn't waste it. But even though the message was supposed to be positive, we ended up fighting and it was awful. :( Bad mom-ala.

We are all definately human and have out moments...

I dropped Matthew yesterday, yes, that's right... dropped him. I've been trying to get the 3 of us out of the house at 8:30am or so to go for a bike ride before it turns really really hot in the day. We have to get out of the house and do SOMETHING, so a bike ride 1st thing seemed like it. Yesterday was our 3rd morning. We enjoyed the 1st, the 2nd was ok, but the 3rd was a chore. Ryan had gotten a flat tire, so Michael had changed both tubes and given him a new tire on the back wheel. But he was getting a flat in the front this time. We stopped to get a drink of water. Matthew is in a kid seat that is on the back of my bike and I'm trying to get him a drink and the whole bike just starts tipping. I can not catch him... and down he goes. Now mind you - I am still on the bike, straddling it, twisting around holding the water bottle. My glasses go flying, the water bottle goes flying. I scoop him off the ground as fast as I can, still strapped into his seat in the bike. And then I didn't even take him out of the seat to comfort him - I just wrapped my arms around him and held him and comforted him. If I took him out - he wouldn't have gone back in anytime soon and we were a LONG way from home... We continued on our ride and get another 10 minutes up the road, turning to come home. Stop for another drink and he has a meltdown - throwing his helmet off (which thankgoodness he was wearing, or he would have gotten a little more than the small scratch on his arm that he got.) and refusing to put it back on. So we stand there for 15 minutes, in the scortching sun, trying to get him back into his helmet to get home. Meanwhile Ry's tire is getting flatter. So when we get to the overpass - he ends up having to push it up the hill to get there. Then Matthew wants to stop and play at the park, so we try that - but man- just too hot. We are all very overheated and grumpy when we get home!
So - I am mean old mommy for taking my kids out in 95 degree heat at 9ish am in the morning to get us out of the house.

Because the mall totally doesn't work for us either... LOL!

when my six year old was about 8 months old we were at the mall. he had gotten out of the stroller for a bit and then i got tired of holding him so i put him back in the stroller. he started SCREAMING when i put him back in...i thought he was just throwing a tantrum because he wanted me to hold him so i just ignored his crying and kept pushing thinking if i ignored him then he would stop.....turns out i pinched his belly in the stroller buckle. i felt SO bad.

marsha, i am in the same boat as you. my three little ones (6, 4 and 2) do not mix well in the stores. today we went to target and i ran into someone i knew. as were were chit chatting all three of my kids seriously acted like the wildest animals you have ever seen. i was SO embarrassed. one ran off into the food court and "stole" two packs of gummies. i had to walk him back to the food court, leaving my two other kids with my friend (along with my cart).

i kept telling him to put the stuff back and he kept trying to hide it behind his back. steam was coming out of my ears for sure. i was 1. embarrassed and 2. shocked that it was ok for him to steel (when he KNOWS that its not ok and we have talked about it before) and 3. even more mad that he wouldnt put the items back! ugh i snatched them from his hand and took him back to our cart and had a LONG talk with him when we got into the car.

ugh it was bad lol.

oh these are so great! you know, these stories are never as fun happening as they are when we're thinking back on them.

i'll never forget when camille was about a month old and we were in the grocery store in line. i was lovin' on her and kissing on her little rolls (she was a VERY chubby baby - 9 pounds 15 ounces. I am woman, hear me ROAR!). okay, so back to the story, i'm kissin' on her and notice the most putrid smell ever coming from my little one. upon closer examination, i see that deep in one of her leg rolls was the stinky evidence that I had not bathed her well enough. like toe jam times two - disgusting. totally gave me a complex and i was extra super-duper careful every time i bathed her from then on.

another you ask?
we're in the car on sunday and camille has a little booger that she needs assistance with. so, i'm doing my motherly best, digging for gold trying to help her. she jerks her head, my hand slips and my fingernail scratches the inside of her nose. so, in addition to boogers, we now have a bloody nose. she was a little freaked out to say the least.

DH has a bad habit of pinching one or the other of Maggie's legs whenever he puts her into her car seat. I still haven't figured out how he does it, but he does. He's done it often enough that when he's putting her into the car seat, she does a huge V with her legs--to get them out of the way!

Totally laughing, sorry Maggie!
I can relate - I pinched Matthew's poor little chin as I was putting on said helmet on said bike ride! LOL!

well i am by FAR one of the worst mommies out there, but i think my kids have gotten used to it! LOL!

i've ripped off mia's fingernails because i didn't know she was crawling ight behnd the door i swung open. lara literally flipped forward in her bouncy chair because she could just barely sit up and stupid me put her in it anyway. and a 1 month old norah totally shimmied herself off her makeshift 'bed' at a hotel while she was swaddled.

see, i AM the worst mommy out there.

Sassy, how sweet that he asked after that!!

Last night, we were at ILs house. Jasmine had her foot between two cushions of the couch, where I didn't realize it was in there pretty tight. I either gave her to Josh, or took her from him (don't remember which), twisting her ankle 90 degrees before I realized what was making her cry. :(

She was fine, but pretty upset.

I asked Harrison to put his toys away, I go in the kitchen to tidy up a bit and I don't hear him doing anything so I come through to the room and with my "telling off" voice I say "Harrison I told you to put your toys away" well he ignored me, well I thought he was ignoring me so I go closer to him saying it a bit louder and he's asleep on the floor bless him and I woke him up!!! Sleeping again now though!! Busy Morning haha

Tara ~ Oh, my! That LO is adorable, and her little crying face in that picture. *sigh* Too precious!

Marsha ~ I'm so so sorry, but the thought of you dragging your son out by the ear just sent me into a fit of giggles. I know that's embarrassing, but what else are you gonna do?

Sinead ~ I love the "V" with Maggie's little legs. How cute is that?!?
