A really sweet handsome geek, that is, but a geek nonetheless...

Tonight, he was walking across the living room and suddenly got a goofy look on his face and started giggling. I asked what he was laughing about and he said it was something at work. After a little more prodding, he told me that they had a squirt bottle in the lab at work (he's an electrical engineer and his company makes ruggedized laptops and such). Somebody wrote on the squirt bottle DIHYDROXIDE MONOXYGEN (or something like that...who knows if I spelled it right). He said he couldn't wait til somebody (like a co-op or something) came across the bottle and felt the need to look up the chemical in the Hazardous Materials manual before using it. He's laughing so hard at this point that he's got tears coming from his eyes. Being a little slow, it took me a minute to realize that he was talking about H2O (yes, WATER).

Dude, he was in tears laughing about some geek writing the geeky version of water on a water squirt bottle!!! I informed him that he is a geek, as are all of his co-workers.

Then he laughed harder--"Well," he said, "I might be a geek, but not only did you marry me, you're going to have two kids with me!!"

LOL He got me there!

Anyway, just thought I'd share. He's always giggling about stuff like this--goofy stuff they do at work or random geeky things, and it cracks me up that he finds so much enjoyment out of things I have to think really hard about just to figure out! :tongwink:

Sinead,

I married a geek too. :)

Of course, I'm also a geek...but a much more "advanced end user" type of geek than the "I can create any software you want" geek my husband is.....

:)

That's hilarious! Sounds like something I'd realize and get a kick out of later, too. (I'm a definite geek...much geekier than my surfer-boy husband!!) :)

LOL Sinead!!

I don't know if this counts as geeky, but my dh received a $200 gift certificate to Amazon. You know what he bought? He bought about 12 cd's: The Go-Gos; Crowded House; Johhny Hates Jazz; Lionel Richie; The Bangles; Richard Marxx; Cutting Crew; Lou Gramm; and a few others that I can't remember or just never heard of before. LOL
With the rest of his money he got me a small digital camera to keep in my purse. He may be a little geeky, but he's a sweet geek!!

lol about the cds! My DH loves early R&B and Disco. I don't get it, personally, but it makes him happy.

That is funny!

My DH is a geek too. He is a consultant for developing low-income and affordable housing for non-profits. But is even more geeky because he is really into construction sites. Whenever we pass them, he's always craning his head around to check out the process and see what is going on.

I used to date a robotics engineer/prof at Carnegie Mellon. He also developed software on the side. We went to an event when he came to visit and it was very difficult for him to interact in a normal social setting. (He also couldn't kiss worth a darn which is why it never lasted.) Whenever I hear that Shania Twain song "That Don't Impress Me Much" it reminds me of him. Hahahaha.

Ok, so I just realized that I'm also becoming a geek in my own way. DH has been watching the music channels lately (you know those ones where you can listen to 90s or 70s or whatever kind of music over the TV)? Well, on a couple of those channels, the graphics aren't centered in the band that goes across the screen. That drives me NUTS!! They also have a cheesy graphic on one that looks as if they were trying to give it depth, but the drop shadow is ridiculously huge. I commented about it and DH gave me the eyeroll thingie. LOL!!

LOL! You are too funny! That is one frustrating thing (I hate things that are off-centered)!

I just realized DH and I are geeks...
We'll read the credits on something and I'll ask him if he knows what the font is because I like it :) And how many times we can tell.... :D

My DH would LHBO at that too. His degree field is Chemical Engineering, so that's right up his alley. Of course there's this one joke that he finds absolutely hilarious...

There are 10 different kinds of people in the world. Those who know binary and those who don't.

I get that joke now, but it's simply not funny.:thinking2

I thought it was hilarious :)

Then again, I got a binary clock for Christmas, and DH and I like to look at it and tell each other when it's pretty times :) (yes, we can read it, too)
