well, since we ended well over 1000 posts on the old thread, we decided to start a new thread similar in context to shameless thread killers. it's basically just an ongoing chat.

good morning ladies!!! i slept so well last night. it had been months since i had gotten to sleep next to DH. he sure is warm though... i had to kick my blanket off and turn the ceiling fan on!

Charla
07-13-2006, 08:18 AM
Good morning! Thanks for doing this, Rachel :)
(sounds like DH's favorite line from the movie "Dave," "thanks for doing this, Ellen." :)

Tamra, how exciting to get a file from you (I hadn't seen your note about it last night). DH thinks it's gorgeous too. Can't wait to start playing!!

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 08:54 AM
Good Morning! Glad you got some good sleep Rachel!

Charla
07-13-2006, 08:58 AM
I missed that...I can't imagine not having slept next to DH for months. I'm glad you slept so well, though it was warmer!
Was Ian (?) upset that he wasn't there with you?

Jasmine was good last night...I got a decent amount of sleep. Dreamed about CTs all night :D

Tamra, can we tell? Or should we wait until your announcement?? :)

StaceyD

Declan has swim lessons today (last two days of a 9 day program) and I am pretty sick of the pool! I love going but having to be there every morning at 9:45 gets old. We take our lunch and just stay until 1:00 every day. It looks like we might get some rain today, which would be great so I can get some scrappin done!

Charla
07-13-2006, 09:15 AM
Wow, that is a long time! Hope you get your scrapping time :)

RachelS
07-13-2006, 09:17 AM
swim lessons! fun!

yeah ian did ok. i moved his crib out of our bedroom on sunday, so he has been practicing staying in bed all night in isaac's room. i haven't had to wake up to being kicked, scratched, bitten, or cried at in a few days!

RachelS
07-13-2006, 09:18 AM
oh yeah, and tamra, do you need my email address?

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 09:20 AM
You didn't get an email either Rachel?

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 09:21 AM
Oh, I am sooo close to 900!! Can't go to the pool until I hit it!

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 09:32 AM
Ok, this post will do it! Just saw your LO Charlene with Sinead's pic...OMG that is beautiful!!

Off to the pool...hopefully I will be back before noon!

Charla
07-13-2006, 09:34 AM
Thanks, Stacey :)

woo-hoo!! 900 :) You did it :)

Rachel, yay for not being kicked or scratched ;)

RachelS
07-13-2006, 10:10 AM
its sad that is an accomplishment for me.

tamra
07-13-2006, 10:56 AM
Okay - so I'm finally here! Sorry about that 3 kids all waking up at different times - baths, breakfast... ready now! I haven't gotten to sleep good in a long time :( Glad you slept well though.

tamra
07-13-2006, 10:59 AM
As for the emails. When you checked out the previews in my blog Charlene told me she like Island Vacation and Stacey told me she liked After the Rain so right then I just started sending it to them (before any real talk about CT) just because- a gift! For some reason the one to Stacey was taking FOREVER and then when I was going to bed I noticed that it had a screen like when you computer can't get a page from the internet! I wasn't sure if it had actually worked and couldn't stay there that long or if it didn't work - now i know. I didn't :( I'll resend.

tamra
07-13-2006, 11:04 AM
Oh ya, Charlene - if you could wait til it is announced in the the store that will be great!
Rachel I was going to look at some of my other kit previews today and see if there is one that might be more boyish. I can either pick you one to send or you can just let me know what you would like. If you saw that LO of mine a while back with the big flower and Eliana pouting- I have that kit too. The only elements it has though are alphas and 4 little elements.

Charla
07-13-2006, 11:05 AM
Hehe :) Thanks! I'm having a blast with it. When it's all done, can I email it to you so you can see, since i can't post it?? :)

tamra
07-13-2006, 11:06 AM
I would love that - do you know my email?

Charla
07-13-2006, 11:06 AM
Absolutely. I kinda figured :)

I love how you have the "www.??????.com" in your TOU files. So funny! Good job remembering that :)

Charla
07-13-2006, 11:07 AM
It shows up if I look at your profile (which I figure is how you got mine)

tamra
07-13-2006, 11:09 AM
Yup - plus I forgot it in the TOU too!

Stacey42
07-13-2006, 11:15 AM
just stoppig by to say hi if that is ok

Charla
07-13-2006, 11:20 AM
Absolutely :) Hi Stacey!

tamra
07-13-2006, 11:24 AM
Sure it is - Hi Stacey :)

Charla
07-13-2006, 11:27 AM
Tamra, I emailed you :)

Stacey42
07-13-2006, 11:27 AM
Hello! I have been absent a long time & feel a bit weird leaping back in like this.

Charla
07-13-2006, 11:30 AM
I think it's the best way to do it, but I know what you mean!!

tamra
07-13-2006, 11:38 AM
Ya, don't feel weird Stacey - just jump right in.

tamra
07-13-2006, 11:39 AM
Charlene - got the email. That LO looks great!!! Love the picture of you :) and your journaling. I haven't done anything with this kit yet so I wasn't sure how the pin was gonna turn out - if it was proportioned right, but it looks great :)

RachelS
07-13-2006, 12:32 PM
tamra, you choose whatever you think you'd like me to use. i am pretty flexible. also, i found a bunch of wedding/bridal shower/bachelorette photos that i can use to make a LO too, so girly would be ok.

scrapsandsass
07-13-2006, 12:33 PM
Morning ladies. I can't believe how much I missed from last night until this morning!

scrapsandsass
07-13-2006, 12:39 PM
Okay Tamra... I missed all of the discussion yesterday (damn that family counseling anyway)... but I'd love to be on a potential waiting list to be notified if you put out a CT call! :)

Summer Fun is toooooooo cute!!!

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 01:22 PM
Happy Birthday to Ry!! Have a great day Deanna!!

Hi Stacey...jump right in!!!

Charla
07-13-2006, 01:22 PM
Kimberlee, sorry you missed it! Yeah, we were really chatty last night. Did you see they even chatted for real for a few minutes? I missed that part. But fun!!

Deena
07-13-2006, 01:24 PM
freaks LOL like i needed another thread i couldnt keep up with :P

Just kidding!

Its a slow down around here, im ready for school to start back up, and guess what??

I'll be going to school too!! YAY!! Im going back to get my nursing degree!

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 01:27 PM
That is great Deena!!!

Charla
07-13-2006, 01:28 PM
Wow! Good for you, Deena! That's great! Will you be full-time?

Yeah, we know...hopefully it will be easier if there are people who wanted to jump in but didn't want to read so many hundreds of pages :)

tamra
07-13-2006, 01:34 PM
Thanks Kimberly - I'll keep that in mind!!! ;)
Yay Deena for going back to school!

Charla
07-13-2006, 01:38 PM
I'm soooo tired. Jasmine's nap this morning was short, so I'm hoping she takes a long one this afternoon, and that i can join her. I'm definitely feeling first-trimester exhaustion at the moment!!

tamra
07-13-2006, 01:40 PM
Get some rest!

Charla
07-13-2006, 01:43 PM
I will as soon as she falls asleep. Or I may be turning on one of her movies and putting up the recliner...but I can barely keep my eyes open!

RachelS
07-13-2006, 01:48 PM
deena! that is awesome! i am looking to do that same thing shortly! nursing degree and all... i'm about half done with mine but seem to have taken a almost 2 year break from school. sigh...

charlene, take a nap girl! keep that baby healthy!

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 01:48 PM
Kayleigh is on the couch next to me snoring away and it is getting cloudy outside...perfect napping conditions!

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 01:49 PM
Tamra when is the announcement on the site??

RachelS
07-13-2006, 01:49 PM
both of mine are sawing logs as well. i would nap too but we have to leave in 45 minutes to take DH to the airport.

tamra
07-13-2006, 01:52 PM
Stacey it will be made "closer to the end of this month" ... whatever that means! I'll let you know when I find out. They are trying to put together a big event kinda thing so they will announce it when that is all ready to take place!

tamra
07-13-2006, 01:52 PM
Rachel sorry you have to take dh back already :(

RachelS
07-13-2006, 01:59 PM
thanks tamra! so far this is the first time i've cried about it.

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 02:01 PM
Awww, hang in there Rachel!

tamra
07-13-2006, 02:09 PM
Oh, you're better than me Rachel. This last time was the first time I DIDN'T cry about it :) But that is because we knew it would be a shorter time between! And I have to say that most of the time I am probably crying because all 3 of my kids are crying and I have to pry the youngest dd off of him :(

Charla
07-13-2006, 02:17 PM
I'm sorry, Rachel! Why does he have to do so much traveling? Is there a real end in sight? SOOO sad, you guys. I can't imagine having DH away from me for as long, or as often, as you guys do.

I slept! Slept through about 20 minutes of Veggie Tales ('til Jasmine came and rocked the chair...she missed me :D ) I feel better :)

Tamra, can't wait to hear about the big event :D

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 02:22 PM
Good for you, Charlene, on getting in a power nap!

scrapsandsass
07-13-2006, 02:45 PM
Man... I can't imagine having DH travel that much either. When he was in his former job, he had to travel a lot more... but now he just works within the state. I couldn't stand that.

tamra
07-13-2006, 02:48 PM
My dh actually had to get an apartment over there which was the hard thing- but we get to go move with him on Aug.7 YAY!!! So excited :)

RachelS
07-13-2006, 03:41 PM
well i think he might be home for a while at the end of august. hopefully they won't send him anywhere long term for a while after this. it'd just be too much for me. the landlord just called to tell me he wants to put the house on the market before our lease is up in May. ugh! how am i supposed to do showings with a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old?

Charla
07-13-2006, 03:43 PM
Ugh! That would so not be fun!! I hope you don't have to deal with that!!

Tamra, that's wonderful!! My parents did something like that; we were in CT, he started his job in NY (7 hours away), and mom had the house on the market. I was almost 9, and there were 5 of us!! I can't imagine! He came back every weekend that month, but I think it was one of the longest months in my mom's life!! (thankfully the oldest three of us were in school)

tamra
07-13-2006, 04:27 PM
Ya Charlene that sounds like us, but dh went at end of April - and we won't be there til 7th of August! It's almost here though... sort of :)

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 04:54 PM
I just finished the LO that I lost last night. Just a simple one but felt good to finally scrap again!!

tamra
07-13-2006, 04:56 PM
I saw it and it's cute! He is so adorable

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 05:01 PM
Thanks!

Charla
07-13-2006, 05:46 PM
Very cute page, Stacey :)

Wow, Tamra, I'm glad it's almost over. I'm sure not nearly as glad as you, though!!

RachelS
07-13-2006, 05:51 PM
yes, stacey that page is great! i left you some lovin!

StaceyD
07-13-2006, 08:08 PM
Thanks ladies!!! You ROCK!!

sinead
07-13-2006, 10:07 PM
You guys are cracking me up! Long day today, and all the talk about naps has me worn out. No nap for me today--even though Maggie was up at 5:40am!!--I worked while she napped, so at least I'm done with that for the day. YAY!

Have a good night, girls!

RachelS
07-13-2006, 10:12 PM
well i'm working late tonight on a project, so i will be needing that nap tomorrow!

Cynnder
07-13-2006, 11:21 PM

tamra
07-14-2006, 12:10 AM
Is this when he's learning how to fly?

tamra
07-14-2006, 12:11 AM
okay does my new avatar look totally dorky or what? that's why I don't like to have one with a picture of me on it!

RachelS
07-14-2006, 01:04 AM
i like it tamra! i'll make one with a picture of me soon, will that make you feel better? LOL?
i've been meaning to since i got my hair dyed. i love it when it's dark!

anyhow, i just wanted to complain that yousendit is going very very very slow tonight. sigh... trying to upload a kit!

tamra
07-14-2006, 01:14 AM
oh darn - I hate it when that happens. I tried 2 times last night with Stacey's then finally got it to go through today. It just kept taking so long that I think it eventually got dropped or something? I think it goes a little faster during the day for some reason because it was fine for me to upload 4 things during the day today.

RachelS
07-14-2006, 01:18 AM
want to see the kit that i submitted with my application?
this is the preview (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y37/isaacsmom412/birthdayboy-preview-web.jpg)

i would really like some CC on it. especially if they turn me down. LOL

tamra
07-14-2006, 01:24 AM
I like it... I think you did a good job. Those alphas are cool!

tamra
07-14-2006, 01:24 AM
Oh ya, Good Luck! How long til you know?

RachelS
07-14-2006, 01:31 AM
eh... i think it said they would get back to me within 2 weeks if they liked it.

RachelS
07-14-2006, 01:32 AM
do you ever find that you have all these wonderful ideas for patterned papers in your head but you just can't get them to show up on the computer? i have been fighting this all day long. ARGH!

and with that, i'm going to bed. see y'all tomorrow!

Cynnder
07-14-2006, 11:27 AM
I like your avatar Tamra...is a good one!

and Great lil preview Rachel...best of luck to you!

Charla
07-14-2006, 11:35 AM
Rachel, I love it! Love the textures...those look like fun ones to touch (kwim? almost like seersucker fabric). And the colors are great!! I hope you hear good news!

And Tamra, love the avatar! You look great :)

Deanna, sorry he's leaving... :(

I'm so psyched...I'm on the CT I applied to over a week ago. So I went from 0-2 in less than 24 hours :D

Charla
07-14-2006, 11:36 AM
And Rachel, I hope you can figure out how to get the computer to do what your head thinks it should look like!

Look how big my baby is now :D
Of course, Jasmine was 10 lbs 11 oz when she was born, so 4 grams...baby's got a ways to go :)

Cynnder
07-14-2006, 11:54 AM

Okay... I'm just the biggest loser. No CT for me. :( I didn't really think that i had much of a chance to get on the one I applied for, but at least it didn't completely break my heart because I was trying to be realistic.

Charla
07-14-2006, 12:22 PM
I'm sorry, Kimberlee. :( You're not a loser...I think almost everyone who applies for a team has been turned down at least once (I was!) :(

Tamra, aren't you like 3 posts from being a Hot Chick?? :D Get posting, girl!!

I've had the week from hell at work. I got into a fight with my DD yesterday because of the stress. I was in a critical crunch time and she was supposed to get me information before I left for an important meeting, but she was screwing around and I was late and furious. Has not been a good time.

I keep thinking that if I could just get some time to spend chatting with you guys, it would make me feel much better. :D

Today is the beginning of the light at the end of the tunnel (I'm hoping).

My major grant project starts on Monday. We're moving our office this weekend. I will be overseeing the training for the next two weeks, but I'm getting a new Blackberry phone and a laptop, so I'm praying that there is some way I'll be able to connect and keep up with what you all are doing. :) I'm also hoping to find some time to scrap (I downloaded PSE on my laptop). :) Don't know if it will be possible, but I'm being optimistic.

RachelS
07-14-2006, 12:41 PM
kimberlee,
not a thing planned... again.
i have been turned down for so many CTs that its not even funny
i'm sorry that work is going so poorly. hopefully this weekend it will turn over a new leaf, as they say?

tamra
07-14-2006, 01:14 PM
Tamra, aren't you like 3 posts from being a Hot Chick?? :D Get posting, girl!!
Wow, I hadn't paid any attention - I'll get on that! Although I did like being SUPER!!!

tamra
07-14-2006, 01:15 PM
Kimberlee you're not retarted but... I don't know why you can't see it. The others can - or at least they're acting like they can!!!

RachelS
07-14-2006, 01:32 PM
i can see it... you're so purty!

Charla
07-14-2006, 01:34 PM
Oops, Tamra, not quite three posts...sorry. More like 49! I must have read that wrong. (blush)

Kimberlee, i hope things do improve like you hope at work. (((hugs)))

I can take a breath now ladies! On Tuesday, I was having an anxiety attack because I needed 12 people to start work on Monday (6 nurses and 6 interviewers). I had only one person on Tuesday. Today, I have them all. :) Big sigh of relief! Whoo-hoo! I'm so happy I could cry!

My sister is a sweetheart. She makes the best chicken strips in the whole wide world. I'm always teasing her about when she's going to make them so I can have some. So now she's going to make me a batch because I took her to her interview on Wednesday and back to drop off her employment paperwork yesterday.

It is a good Friday! :)

tamra
07-14-2006, 02:10 PM
So happy for you Kimberlee!

Charla
07-14-2006, 02:19 PM
Yay, Kimberlee!

I'm not going to see Aquamarine. I may try to join in (if the timing works better) if they have us watching a movie that isn't in the theaters anymore. You know...You've Got Mail or 13 Going on 30 or something like that :)

This weekend is my friend's baby shower. She and I have been friends since infancy, so it's really cool. And maybe we'll get together with DH's cousin and his fiancee, if that works out. Sunday we go to his parents' house...we try to see them weekly so they can get their Jasmine fix ;)

tamra
07-14-2006, 02:49 PM
Charlene it's not still on at the movies is it? It said it came out in theaters at the beginning of March so I would think it was out on video now... right?

scrapsandsass
07-14-2006, 03:02 PM
It is out on video... I saw a poster when I passed the video store the other day. It came out in June.

My DD is working this weekend, so I may go and buy a pizza from her. I'm also very very very excited to crack into the box of new watercolors that has been sitting there on my table, taunting me, begging me to open the beautiful bright colors and paint!!!!

I may have to do some work around the house though... otherwise DH may get rid of me. With all that has been going on lately, I've barely gotten anything done.

Charla
07-14-2006, 03:18 PM
That makes sense! I forgot how long ago March was!!

Rachel, your kit looks great!! Love the colors! Good Luck!
Deeana, congrats on hitting 1,000!

Charla

uh-oh...4 1/2 hours!!! Sorry Rachel...I really hope she doesn't make you wait two weeks. She'd be pretty silly to pass this up :)

07-14-2006, 10:24 PM
Big CONGRATS to you Charlene on making the CT!!! That is awesome!!!

RachelS
07-14-2006, 10:28 PM
woohoo! is it pathetic that this is pretty much the first time i made a LO using my own kit. i always mean to and never do. but i did tonight for the scraplift challenge!

and charlene, i replied to your toot post, but i want to tell you congratulations again! that rocks!

RachelS
07-14-2006, 10:30 PM
I'm pretty sure that AmyK is one of our new designers. :regular_s I didn't recognize her by her "real" name, eithr. lol

Sinead, I'm so glad you think so too because I kept wondering and it was kind of driving me nuts. I am too nosey for my own good and would have liked to ask her right away!

sinead
07-14-2006, 10:34 PM

Kimberlee, I am going to try to watch Aquamarine. Enjoy your chicken strips. Yummy! Try not to get down on yourself about CT's. You just gotta keep trying out...you will find the perfect fit.

Lacey, have fun at Disney!!

Same here....except someone needs to explain that concept to our neighbors...oy! They seem to forget (or not care) that their deck is 25 feet or so from my bedroom window.

So ladies, what is on the agenda today?

Thanks Stacey!

Sorry about your early risers! I lucked out in that department! Declan is still sleeping at 8:45! Today is going to be HOT! Not sure what we are going to do, but tonight DH and I are going on a date! I watched the neighbor's kids last night while they went out, and tonight it is our turn. We are going to go to dinner and a movie. I can't wait!

How fun, Stacey! We get our date on Monday: our first Ballroom Dancing lesson! They're offering a 6-week course at his old church, and I'm so excited!! I think it's so romantic to learn to dance with DH :D (and that class is after my next prenatal appt...I'm hoping to hear the heartbeat but am trying not to get my hopes up!)

Today: baby shower an hour away, and dinner with my familiy. Jasmine loves the time with all her aunts and uncles, so it's always fun :)

ya ya'll make me jealous too. Have fun on your date tonight Stacey! Ball room dancing sounds like it will be fun Charlene. I thought we'd get to see dh this weekend, but it looks like this time its gonna be another 2 weeks between! Sorry Rachel and Lacey that you didn't get to sleep in!
Oh ya - Stacey, thanks for saying you like my new avatar :) I wonder if Kimberlee still can't see it... that's so weird to me?!

My DH never sleeps in... so I can't. He was up at 7:30, which got the puppy up and then it was impossible to sleep.

I'm in the midst of trying to program 7 Blackberry phones and 6 cell phones for work. What a pain in the butt! I'm waiting for DD to call to let me know when she has lunch and I'm going to head up to eat with her. Then I will hit the studio for some painting time.

Not much excitement here!

Charlene, I'm so jealous. I wanted to take dance lessons before our wedding, but there wasn't time to fit everything in. I'd still love to take them, but DH isn't exactly excited about the idea. He has absolutely no rhythm whatsoever. We danced one night at his company Christmas party and it was very uncomfortable for him. I tried to put my hands on his hips to guide his dance moves, but even that didn't work. Poor guy. :(

Be sure to take your camera and have someone get a picture of the two of you to scrap!

My dad passed around the virus he had, and my brother and i now have sinus infections. I feel fine though. I have been busy with lotsa stuff. I spent time with family this week...my cousins came over....we had a family friend over too and I added a 3 hour class to my gymnastics schedule.

i'm okay. pretty frustrated with the boys. they act worse when DH is gone, but i am also probably more sensitive to them being naughty and react worse than normal too. but on the bright side, i'm feeling significantly less sick than i have been (sinus infection and bronchitis).

thank you for asking. that really made my morning.

how are you?

Charla
07-16-2006, 08:30 AM
Rachel, I think that's pretty normal: kind of testing the boundaries to see how things are different with only one parent around. Sorry you have to deal with it, though :(

Sinead, hope you got/get more sleep!

Glad you ladies are all doing well this morning. DH woke me up at 7:10... but at least it was for a good reason. ;) I'm excited because yesterday I ended up at a craft store and they were having a sidewalk sale, so I got a bunch of canvas for a bargain. I also found a great source (there) for 12x12 canvas. I'm hoping to do some scrapbook LOs to hang on the wall. :) That size canvas isn't easy to find around here, and the last place I found them they were selling for $20 a piece! Yesterday, I got a bunch that were on sale for $5.50. Yay! Has anyone tried to do the scrapbook on a wall idea? I'm trying to figure out the best way to adhere the pages.

RachelS

07-16-2006, 12:39 PM
Hey Rachel, I'm ok - obviously it is normal for kids to do this when one parent is gone!!! Micah is really the only one though - I don't know if it is because he is a boy or if it is just because he is older? I hope you can get over all of your yuck soon!

tamra

! Has anyone tried to do the scrapbook on a wall idea? I'm trying to figure out the best way to adhere the pages.

I've used modpodge to adhere them before but saw an idea yesterday to print the layout on t-shirt transfers and iron it on. Might try that eventually.

scrapsandsass
07-17-2006, 12:03 AM
Thanks for that idea, Lacey! I might have to try that. I have some actual traditional supplies I'm going to use to start out with. I'll have to try the Modpodge or gel medium and see how it goes. I got one canvas that is 24" X 36"... I thought about putting mulitiple LO pages on it... I'm not sure yet.

I did some painting (ala Traci Bautista) today and had a lot of fun. We went out to dinner with my mom/sis (to Olive Garden) and now we are watching Munich... so I'm trying to stay awake. Such a serious movie when I'm tired! :p

But first my prenatal appointment (at 5:20). I'm hoping they'll try to find the heartbeat even though it's early...not doing well at not getting my hopes up (as the song "listen to your heart" plays on the radio...couldn't be much more appropriate than that!) :)

Great avi, Rachel :) Very elegant! Sorry about the inedibles in the fridge. Doesn't it feel good to have it gone, though?

I think we're going to a local (AAA) baseball game Friday with Josh's cousin and his fiancee. Should be fun :) They wanted to get together with us, but it was hard figuring out what to do...his cousin suggested a movie, but you can't talk at all then (we haven't seen the fiancee in a couple years, so we need to kind of renew her acquantance) so a baseball game is perfect :)

Maggie slept in today--til 5:50! whooohooo! lol I don't know what I'm going to do with her.

Feel icky at the moment. It started this afternoon. Probably not drinking enough water or something+ being tired. Off to get some water, maybe something to eat, and chill on the couch. Today was a long day, but at least the project is officially starting, so that is a good feeling. I had crazy dreams about it last night and was worried that no one would show up. We were supposed to have 13 there and only one flaked out. I thought that she might. We have to find a spanish-speaking person quickly. It was a long day though. It was 100 miles and an 11-hour day from home to home, so it was tiring. Tomorrow, we start an hour earlier, so that will be torture. :)

Rachel, you are so funny... I agree with Stacey's assessment... you can't be completely naked as long as you have jewelry on... oh, and stiletto heels. :) LOL

Charlene, did you hear a heartbeat yet?

Stacey, good job on the blog.

Tamra, do you have an announcement date yet?

tamra, it's ok. we've known you're hot for a while!

charlene, how were the class and the appointment? i can't believe you haven't posted yet!!!!!!

kimberlee, i hope it's not as bad as you are expecting today.

Charla
07-18-2006, 08:45 AM
Good morning!

Okay, I'll be selfish first since everyone's asking :)

The appointment went great. We both really loved the midwife. She's young...probably really early 30s, and very relaxed and trusting that we know what we want. She said the end date might be a little more flexible...they don't like their patients to go over 41 weeks but she said with close monitoring I might be able to go a few extra days (Jasmine was 42 weeks so I guess my babies need more time to cook!)

She tried to find the heartbeat (I didn't even have to convince her!) but she couldn't find it. It's still really early. So we go back in 2 weeks to hear the heartbeat :D

Dancing was awesome. And kinda disappointing. We're learning the merangue, the cha cha, and swing. (I was surprised: no waltz?? I thought that was the epitome of ballroom?) Unfortunately, there were far more girls than guys, so she had us swap partners the whole time. Get this: the pastor of the church (not our church, so I had never met him) was one of the ones learning to dance. Somehow he was my partner as often as DH was (just a little awkward!)! And forget about all the guys who were 6 inches shorter than me...and me in heels...having them spin me was a little interesting!! DH and I are both learning quickly, and I think it will be a lot of fun. I really want to keep practicing, so it's not something we immediately forget when the class is over. And it will help us be able to learn more in the next classes, since she won't have to take so much time to review.

Charla
07-18-2006, 08:48 AM
Kimberlee, I hope you find a spanish-speaking person quickly! Hope today's even longer day isn't torture like you're worried about...

Rachel, with the necklace, I certainly didn't think you looked naked! The mind of a 3-year old :D

Tara, thanks! And ditto what someone else said: we've known you're hot for awhile :D

Sinead, hope you got lots of water and rest, and feel normal by now. It's so hot, I think dehydration or just feeling kinda lousy is really easy, especially for us.

Jasmine's asleep in the high chair. Guess she wasn't quite as awake as she thought :D

sinead
07-18-2006, 09:07 AM
Yeah, I'm sure it's dehydration. Of course, it doesn't help that Maggie had me up at 4am again today. I can't seem to force myself to sleep before midnight no matter what I do and this child is determined to be up with the crickets. ugh. seriously...

Anyway, yay for the good appt, Charlene. I'm surprised they started with swing. Waltz is a little trickier because of the turns and stuff, so it doesn't surprise me it wasn't one of the first.

Kimberlee, glad things went well. Good luck today!

Tamra, lol about missing when you turned hot. I agree--you've been hot, girl!

tamra
07-18-2006, 10:34 AM
Oh ya'll are so sweet:embaresse and FUNNY!
Charlene - glad you're lessons well & ya, that does sound awkward! I would feel like "hey I brought a partner, sorry for those who didn't - bring one next time!
Rachel - we don't think you look naked, but it may just be because we have seen that whole picture so we know what it is (otherwise we may think "wow, Rachel's brave to take her picture for her avatar only in her necklace - LOL)
Kimberlee sorry today is going to be a really long day for you but hope it goes well!
Sinead, I don't know what to tell you about Maggie! You need some rest - maybe you can let her spend the night with a grandma or someone who lives there so you can sleep :)

Charla
07-18-2006, 10:38 AM
I agree, Tamra. I had really hoped they'd just make all the single people switch, and us married couples could stay with our spouses. But as one guy pointed out, switching partners was a good way for him to see what he was doing wrong and fix it, so I guess there are advantages.

Jasmine has a new word. She was looking at pictures of herself last night, saying "keekee" for Kewpie, which we call her more often than Jasmine (and it's much easier to say). Isn't that adorable?? She tried to say Jasmine, but it came out pretty funny :)

Hi everyone. Thought I would join in even though I don't have anything interesting going on in my life. However, we are going camping for an entire 8 days. We leave Monday a.m. I am so excited I can't wait. We haven't been camping since our last church campout in July of last year. Too expensive for diesel fuel to haul that 28' ft 5th wheel around. But, I'll be sad because I won't be able to keep up with what is going on here. Oh well, that's the breaks, skid marks in the sky.

RachelS

So I'll just try to keep up from now on, k?

I'm back from my road trip! It was great fun. My husband's family is so much more normal than my own. The kiddos are catching up on sleep today and I'm trying to catch up here.

And I am very excited to announce that I have been accepted as one of the new designers here at The Digi Chick. I found out just before I left. Is that cool or what?

Nonnie, have fun!

My mom grew up camping all the time, but it was always disastrous for our family so they finally sold the tent and are done with it. And DH isn't a "roughing it" kinda guy...his idea of a vacation is a 5-star resort hotel, which I can deal with :)

Amy, that's awesome! We've been trying to figure out if it was you, but you weren't here to ask :D Congratulations. That's huge :)

I'm so glad your vacation went so well too. Having a "normal" familiy to travel with would definitely be easier!

Okay, I'm back for a bit. I have been out of town all day! It's good to be home but I'm about to leave again. I'm going to put up the groceries then go to the church to practice the piano a while. I really hate that mine is in storage right now! :( Just dropping in to say a quick hi :)

Thanks, Tamra! So you play piano? That's awesome! I had to take lessons in college (as a music major, it was my required minor instrument). I stunk!! I admire anyone who can play two completely different lines simultaneously. I'm a clarinet player, so only ever have to play one line :)

We went out tonight and bought awesome shoes. Last night I wore cute, "conservative" heels, and today I was practicing with cute slingbacks. But those may not stay on my feet (or feel good) for that length of time. I couldn't believe how different it felt, though...it really does make a difference (to me, anyways). So we bought a pair of heels (I'm not a good estimator but I'd say 2") so Josh will really have to stand up tall when we dance http://somewhereelse2.forumup.com/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif (he's 6' even and I'm 5'10" but slouches so looks my height when we're barefoot) I think it's much easier to stand up really straight and dance better in fun heels...not exactly sure why, but it helpshttp://somewhereelse2.forumup.com/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Yankees game is in a rain delay....bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, tied at 4...but Jasmine's almost asleep so I guess I'll find out in the morning who won (assuming they can get back on the field. It was pouring buckets, with thunder and lightning.)

Welcome back and CONGRATS Amy!!!

Kimberlee, hope your day went well!

Charlene, glad your appointment went well. I would have been a little uneasy about the dance thing too, but glad you had fun! Oh, and GREAT new avatar!!

Sinead, hope you are feeling better and hope you get some good sleep tonight! Take care girl!

Nonnie, have a blast camping!! We will miss you!

i can't believe you let a stray cat stay in your house! i would have chased it out right away. i am not very tolerant of cats though... they don't like me and DH is allergic.

We didn't let her in... she came in on her own, through the window. We feed her outside with all of the other cats in the world who eat at our house! I don't know why she wanted to come in because she seems to hate us. DH caught her when she was a kitten and had her fixed so she wouldn't have kittens, and she was afraid of us at that point, so now she really steers clear of us.

Charlene! Clarinet was my principal instrument in college for my first year before I switched over to piano! Do you have your degree in music? I dropped out after 2 years and ended with a Radio/TV/Film degree instead.

Thanks everyone for the congrats! I'm trying to get some things finished up for my big debut.

Rachel that LO is so cute!
Charlene, I know what you mean about playing 2 lines at once! It was pretty hard for me to learn because I played the trumpet all in school and that is obviously one note at a time! I taught myself piano a few years ago. I lead worship at our previous church. I'm no professional by any means, but I love it :)

That's so cool, Tamra!
Amy, yeah, I was a music ed major, so had a major in clarinet and a minor in piano. I actually kinda lucked out, in a twisted sort of way. I broke my finger right before my junior recital (my own stupidity) and had problems with it a year later, so I didn't have to complete my final piano jury. I'm not sure if I could have graduated otherwise...

Rachel, toooo funny. He'll be so embarrassed someday!

Speaking of, Josh and I were talking last night, and I have another story to add to the "most embarrassing moments" thread. Off to go do that :D

Kimberlee...doing well here, but I'll be much happier when Jasmine falls asleep. She's pretty cranky at the moment!

Charla

I think that's true for most of us, some days at least.

Then I look at her while she sleeps, and my heart totally melts.

I gave Jasmine three crayons and a piece of paper. She had fun for a couple minutes, but then decided to start eating them. So her teeth are now red, yellow and blue. She had a complete meltdown when I took it away from her. Thankfully she fell asleep moments after DH went back to work, because she was miserable!!

RachelS

don't worry about the crayons. it happens here once or twice a week. i totally agree about looking at them sleeping! they are just too cute when asleep.

Charla

Yeah, I wasn't too worried. My brother Kenny's first complete sentence was 'I eat crayons" and he's fine :D I got some cute pics...

Now to convince her that her nap was too short....
