We're considering going to Vegas in August...yep, I know HOT but it's Dh's suggestion.
I've got boys, 17 and 13 and want something fun yet appropriate. I've heard one hotel has a more "adult" pool than what I'd want, can't remember which one, belagio maybe.

Can you please give my hotel suggestions. Thanks so much

We stayed at Circus Circus when I was a teen and i was a blast but I keep hearing stories that is has degraded quite a bit since then.

Sorry I can't help more:-(

We stayed at the Tropicana when we went last. It was inexpensive, but it is older. We don't stay in the hotel much though. If you are looking for a great restaurant, there is one between the Excalibur and Luxor that is a steak house (Camelot... I believe). You have to eat there! Best food ever!!!

I am from Las Vegas!!

Here are some sites to check out:
www.nevadamama.com (http://www.thedigichick.com/forums/www.nevadamama.com) - you can buy that book, great for people who are tourists also because then you can find things to do as a family
www.vegas.com (http://www.vegas.com) - you can find other places to fit your needs, hotel wise
www.hotel.com (http://www.hotel.com) - they can give you the best overall details

Circus Circus is still quite nice, and does have the added feature of the Adventuredome
www.circuscircus.com (http://www.circuscircus.com)

Let me know if I can help you with anything else. You can email me directly, just let me know in the Subject Line you are emailing me from TDC, so I won't overlook it!!

VERY DEGRADED! WE stayed there last month and it was BAD! The elevators kept stopping mid-floor and trapping people, the carpets on the 15th floor were being held down by duct tape. The amusement park was scary. Armed police officers were there to control all the local teens that were in there fighting and causing trouble.

I love that place growing up. We always stayed there. Now....it is not safe in any sense.

While we were there, we had family down at the MGM Grand, and that Hotel is gorgeous. They even have a Lion Exhibit. Very cool!!

I can't remember the site, but if you have children there's one called VEGAS4KIDS or something like that. It was very helpful. There is also a hotel called Sunset Station that came highly recommended by friends. (Don't know why we ended up at Circus Circus LOL)

You know, come to think of it, I haven't been to the actual Circus Circus hotel in a LONG time, so I should scrap that opinion.

As for the above comment about the amusement park being scary...

In all honsety, anything in any city can be scary, especially when police/security is involved. Perhaps your last visit was just a bad timing sort of deal. I have never had any problems going there, and I go quite often and being a local - it just happens.

Just walking up and down on the Strip is not safe, in any sense. Walking and touring anywhere is not safe, in any sense, simply because it isn't a place you have been either before or often

Truth be told, that opinion kind of offended me because you can go anywhere and not feel safe and have awful things happen, even in places people tend to think is safe. I have lived in Las Vegas for over 20 years and have noticed touring anywhere outside my locale.... It isn't any safer than home.
