We can go days and days with not a person at our door. Then, if I don't wear make up, or if I don't have the house tidy, it is like Grand Central! If I want peace and quiet, the house needs to be clean, and I should be fully dressed with my make up on. Why is this?

nora, it is definitely murphy's law in action.
Murphy's Law, yep! I guess you'll just have to put makeup on to keep the desperate hordes away! :p

I still remember when the woman from our (current, then brand new) church showed up at the door.... I was nursing, in my jammie *shirt only* because my pants had gotten some sort of child-related ickiness on them.... so picture me, panties, no bra, breastfeeding on the couch with a jammie tank top on and my kids both in nothing but a diaper. DING DONG goes the doorbell.
AHHHH!!! She wanted to CHAT too!! LOL! And said "oh, did you know X is your neighbor?? She goes to our church! Oh look, she is out for a walk, do you want to meet her??" UMMM, NO!!! I have on a pair of jeans I found wadded on the floor as I was running to the door, there is milk dripping down my shirt because I was mid-letdown, and I have a ratty half-ponytail on top of my head! NO, I don't want to meet anyone! LOL!

OMG!! Kimberly, you are killing me!!! That is SO funny!!! I had a similar experience, but it was only my sil, which isn't QUITE so bad as somebody from a new church, lol. Though, I still wanted to sink through the floor.
Yup, Murphy's Law! I was just saying something to my husband about this very thing the other day. How come when the house is clean, nobody ever comes over. But, go ahead and pick a day when everything is trashed, I haven't showered, and the kids have spilled cheerios all over the living room floor, and that WILL be the day my mil POPS in for surprise visit! :p

I think maybe the house sends out vibes. I'm a wreck and it is going to take a guest to make somebody clean it up so someone drops by. But then again, if it is your mil they just have an instinct when to call or come over at just the "right" inappropriate time.

ROLF!
My only problem is that we have a narrow, tall window next to our front door, that is not covered. The living room, kitchen, computer is on one side of the house and the bedrooms on the other. You have to pass the door to get the the bedroom (ei clothes)! I usually surf in my pj's 1st thing in the morning (like now) and then go get ready. I have been caught on the "wrong"side of the house with nothing to put on and no way to run for the bedroom - LOL!
