Matthew's case worker was here doing the quarterly review. Matthew was playing with this little luggage lock and key and I was letting him, instead of wrestling it away from him. During the meeting he stops playing with it. The meeting is over and the case worker and I are walking to the door and Matthew comes running for me down the hallway. I can tell there's something in his throat, but I CAN also tell he's breathing. He's VERY upset and I am trying desperately to figure out what's wrong. I can't remember any of the lymlick (sp?) stuff I've gone through training on at least 3 times. I'm trying to do the push up in the chest part to get it out. It finally does. It was the lock. He had gone back in with Ryan, must have picked it up to play with again and must have put it in his mouth and apprently gotten it stuck in there. Poor baby. It had some blood on it, so he's torn up his throat a little. And he was VERY upset. He pee'd his pants to boot too. OMGOSH! So scary! I KNOW better than to let him play with those, but I kinda just brushed it aside. Bad, bad mommy... bad, bad, bad mommy.....

He had a bath to play for a bit and seems just fine now at least. THANK GOD!

And today's the day I'm supposed to meet Stephanie for lunch, so I had the shirt on I was going to wear. Needless to say - I had to change and find something else. *sigh*

(((hugs))) Michelle. How sad! I can relate though....it's easy to let "little" things go when you're doing something else important.

Oh, Michelle! You're not a bad mommy! It's so scary, but these things happen. Accidents happen. You can't be on your guard every second. You were distracted and something bad happened. Try not to blame yourself too much.

I worry constantly in this house that my youngest is going to choke on something. My older two are constantly leaving choking hazards around, and I haven't been able to keep track of all of them. At least once a day, I find something that my little one has gotten hold of that I wish she hadn't. I just can't keep it drummed into my older kids' heads enough. Just thank God he's okay. That was one scary afternoon you had! :o

Oh.....I am sooo sorry Michelle......and you are not a bad mommie....that was a bad lock! :) Funny how things happen when you really hope everything goes well for that moment/day. It seems like the more you pray that the day will go without mishap, something happens. But I know you are an awesome mom......although not sure how much my opinion is worth since I let my kids watch Sixteen candles...hehe. :) Big {{{hugs}}} to you....have fun today with Steph! :)

Hang in there, sweetie! You are not bad, you are human. :) I'm still amazed that my child is going to be 18 this month and she survived everything from her childhood. It is hard to juggle everything in life without a few incidents along the way.

Oh, I'm so sorry for that experience Michelle. I am really glad that he's okay though. I'm sure he was a scared little guy. The funny thing to me is that when they almost choke to death on something you would think that they would learn not to stick things in their mouths, but no- the next time they find something small enough... in it goes! You're not a bad mom. Those things just happen!

Scary, Michelle! I'm glad that everything's ok! Oh, and you're not a bad mom--Maggie choked on a slice of apple the other day and she was sitting RIGHT NEXT to me!! For some reason little people like to put little things in their mouths. Who knows why!!

I'm so glad Matthew is ok! That case worker should have been more helpful though. ;)

I had a great time meeting you IRL today and I hope you enjoyed your 1st Cheesecake Factory experience.

And girls...Michelle is just as sweet in person as she is on the boards! (Not that I ever thought otherwise.) And of course, she had her camera for a few photos. ;)

Wheeshu! What a day!!!

I just got the boys back from my mom's and they both seem just fine. Matthew seems to be totally over it - but boy! Yes - thank god he came straight to me and didn't just stand in there with Ryan. I don't think Ryan realized anything had happened. So scary! Thanks for making me feel somewhat better!

I had a blast with Stephanie today! I kept her out for a 2 hour lunch, I found out after I'd gotten back in my van! We had so fun, she is so sweet and I'm now totally bummed that she's moving!!! I'll post pics in a differnt thread!
