A post the other day got me to thinking that some of our new chicks or international chicks (or new international chicks!) might appreciate a thread explaining some of the idioms and abbreviations that we use on this site and in the digital scrapbooking world. I'll list the ones that pop into my mind here, but maybe you guys could help with more. :regular_s

Toot--an annoucement that something good has happened (like you've had a layout published or been chosen for a creative team). It's from the phrase "Toot your own horn."

TFS--Thanks for Sharing!

LOL--Laugh Out Loud

ROFL--Roll on the Floor Laughing (or, if you're Michelle/Rynonut, ROLF :tongwink:)

LMAO--Laugh My A** Off (or also known as LMBO...laugh my butt off)

DH--Darling (or some other adjective hehehe) Husband

DD, DS--darling daughter or darling son

LO--layout

TDC--The DigiChick

I know there are more, but my mind is blanking out at the moment. If there are any that you know of or if there's something that is stumping you, just let us know and we'll add them to the list! :regular_s

I hope this helps! We love our international chicks!!

Ah ah, that's one clever thread, all I ever wanted to know about abbreviations without daring to ask, did you read my mind, Sinead ???

what a great idea Sinead.....some of these still stump me especially when they are abbreviations for digi-sites that have the same initials......I have to think awhile which site they are talking about....

Great, my internet-english is not so bad, I knew most of them! Yay me! LOL. The one I'm still wondering about is MIA (like in "I'll be MIA for a few days"). Help, anyone? TIA! (LOL!)

Hey Chloe- MIA is a military term meaning "Missing In Action" and it gets used in the slang form when someone will be gone for a while or has been gone or a while. HTH!
