OMG Laura, I'm up in the middle of the night and just read that too. I almost want to go wake John up and tell him because I'm SO sad. We've been fans for such a long time... I'm heartbroken for his wife and kids. Oh God, too sad. :(

OMG.

Andrew and I always used to joke about how crazy he is, but that he seemed to really know and love what he was doing. Wow...I'm just heartbroken.:broken_he

What a tragedy! I'm so sad for his family. We've been huge fans for a long time, and like others, we often laugh at how crazy he was. Still, this comes as such a surprise.

We are so sad to hear about that, too. My hubby just got a phone call from our cousin about it. :(

Yeah Michelle, his little girl is 8 and his son is 3. Oh jeeze, I still can't wrap my mind around this one. Jaime and I were talking about him this morning and Riley said, "I know who you're talking about... Steve Irwin". I couldn't bring myself to tell her what happened... I just knew she'd cry.

I just got up and read it on the internet. OMG. I was so shocked. DH and I liked watching him because he was crazy, but he always talked to the animals like they were children. What a loss these animals have suffered. I also thought of his wife and kids first thing. Wondering how they were going to handle this. Poor things. Prayer is all I can do for them.

Such upsetting news. My son is pretty upset about it. The Croc Hunter was his hero and the reason he wants to be a herpetologist when he grows up. He will be dearly missed in our home, as well as the whole world. My thoughts and prayers are with all that loved him.

I had been seeing photos of him on my news page, but didn't pay any attention because, well... he was always doing something crazy (and scarey IMO). This is shocking news!

I saw on the news this morning that his wife and kids were somewhere on vacation and they showed them getting on an airplane to go home. I can't imagine being somewhere else and have that happen to my hubby. I know it happens that way all the time for some people. But ugh...

I thought I was somewhat close in their ages...

I am so upset about this, Bean got Safari Wiggles last week (with Steve Irwin) and we all just love him in it. It's so sad to watch it now, it has his wife and little girl in it too. I still can't believe he's gone :(

DH takes Maggie to the zoo each week for their Daddy Date, and whenever they go into the Reptile House (which is EVERY time and often they do several rounds of it), she sings "Crocodile Hunter" (from Wiggly Safari) except she changes the words to "Crocodile Monitor"...that song has been in my head all morning. :(

I was very saddened by this tragic news.

Not so very long ago, a friend of mine whose son is autistic and constantly watches Steve Irwin's show; wrote a personal letter to him. In the letter he told Mr. Irwin how much he meant to him. Her son told Mr. Irwin, in his letter, of his own personal contributions to wildlife causes by volunteering at a local wildlife sanctuary amongst other things he had done and tries to do. We were shocked when after 3 weeks of mailing it, her son received a personally written letter (not your "stock letter" ) by Steve Irwin thanking her son for his letter and complimenting the son on his efforts here locally.

I have heard the Discovery Channel is naming something after him and also hosting a special this weekend in Steve Irwin's honor.

My prayers and positive thoughts are with his wife and family.

I just found out about this from my kids...one of their classmates told them about it, and I had to Google right away to see if it was true...sadly, it is :( We just sat down to eat dinner and watch Crocodile Hunter when Abby mentioned it. This is so unbelievable!! Poor Terri and her kids...their daughter is 8 and their son is almost 3...that makes it even sadder :(

I can't believe that there is a thread about Steve Irwin on TDC.. I didn't realise how popular he was overseas, not just a local boy. It is such a tragedy, and it's weird cos you'd think he was invincible. But - I don't think he would have wanted to go out in any other way - he died doing what he loved. Very very sad though :(

It's absolutely devestating.. Connor loves his show & has learned so much from it. He will be surely missed.
