View Full Version : Anyone want to help me name this action?

I've started working on writing some photo actions, mostly for my sister. She is a photographer, and bought me my cameras (both of them), my PS 7.0, and my graphire tablet. And, I wanted at least some small way to repay her (even if it's just in thought, lol). So, I've designed grungy borders for her to use, so she doesn't have to buy commercial ones, designed her logo for her, and now, thought maybe I could start coming up with some actions she can use. But, I do want them to be good...something you'd like to see on a portrait, kwim.
Anyone want to take a peek and tell me, number one, if this looks good enough yet (this must be about my 15th try, roflol). And what we could name this sepia masterpiece, if in fact, you don't think I need to go back to the drawing board...
The first photo is the action photo:

I like it!
How about "Vintage Air." Not too much thought into that one, it's the first thing that came to mind. Let me think some more. . .

Since there is some pink to it, how about Sepia Blush?

I like the two suggestions, so far :) "Vintage Grape" is what popped into my head when I first saw it, or "Wine Press", but then again, I'm a big weirdo so you might not want to use any names that I come up with :P

Oooh, these are nice names! I am so not good at the names!
I'm liking the Sepia Blush and the Wine Press. I'm going to have to pick one and make another action to go with the other name! Or maybe I should just go with an alcohol theme for all my actions!!! ROFLOL! ;)
If you want to see another one I've been working on, check out my blog. I haven't actually turned it into an action yet, cause I'd like to have opinions on whether anyone would like it or just thinks it's freaky, lol. Personally, I kinda like it, but I can be weird...the one on the blog is pathetically called Color Pop right now, but needs a better name, too!

love the Sepia Blush!!
oh, and Maggie was looking at this post with me earlier. I told her that your daughter was Megan and she said, "Not Meg! That's our cat!" lol She kept wanting to look at Meggie's pic. Oh, and she said, "Who's that pretty lady?" (talking about you!) :regular_s

Awww, Sinead, that's so sweet! You know why she called me a pretty lady, don't you??!! It's cause I have a CROWN!!! ;) heeeheeeheeee

lol...well, I'm sure the crown factored in. She IS a big fan of crowns and all things princess-y. but that's not the only reason!

The first name that popped into my mind was "Simply Sepia" - I love this look and you did a great job. Will the action work in PSE3?

Yeah, and where can I get it! lol :tongwink: (I use PSCS2, though!)

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure it won't work in PS3 because it uses some adjustments, etc. that are only in PS 7.0 and aren't in 3.0...I do have 3.0, though, and could play around and see. I'll probably eventually give some of these away on my blog. But, since I'm only familiar with my own program, I won't be able to make promises about what will work for other people. I have been working on another one, too. So, if you're interested, check out my blog (scroll down a little). I'll post in the RAK's section when I'm ready to give some away. I'd like to have a little arsenal first, though...kwim? Like I said, these are mostly for my sister and for me, but I think it would be VERY cool to see other people using my actions on their photos!

hehehe that's what I was hoping! lol I like that color pop one...don't know what to name it, though. I'm SO bad about names!!

I just have to say that I am in awe of you gals creating actions...I am so lost in PS, it is ridiculous. I've had PSCS2 for quite a while now and only use it to run my actions and load brushes....*le sigh* I envy you and your smarts sweetie ;)
And YAY for alcohol! LOL I've hit the vanilla rum again tonight...hey, it's FRIDAY!!! I can do that...muahhahahaaaa:pizza:

I love your actions Ange.
I saw the purpley one last night and I loved it. How about vintage plum or sepia plum, or plumalicious! Great job I love them all!

VERY nice, Laura! You have such a way with naming stuff! Help me with the other one, then, would ya? Something catchy...
Jenn: Hahaha! You crack me up...you're not SUI, are you? (Scrapping under the influence)...

Oh, and Jenn, I'm not that smart, roflol. I bought the book Photoshop 7.0 for Dummies and it's taught me about 75% of what I know. There's a whole chapter in there called "Writing Actions for Fun and Increased Productivity". Shhhhhh.....did I give my secret away??? It's an excellent book...but the "dummies" part is sooo misleading, cause this "dummy" only understands about 50% of what I'm reading, lol.
