Got any spooky stories for Halloween? True stories from yourself or others you've known?

I have a couple.....

Personally, one time after my DH and I were first married we took my sister and went to visit her fiance at his lakehouse. The first night I was there, I'm not sure if I was dreaming, or if this really happened. My DH and I were in a queen bed, that also had bunks in the same room, and my sister was in one of those. I saw a man get up from the floor next to the bunk, and walk over and into the closet. I thought this was weird, but I always have WEIRD dreams. I also thought that maybe it was her fiance just telling her goodnight and leaving the room.

The next morning at breakfast I told her the dream, and her eyes got HUGE. Turns out, they had friends over a couple months earlier, and TWO people that night had the same dream of a man coming OUT of the closet and standing over a woman staying the night there.

I didn't go back in that room by myself for the rest of the visit. VERY strange for 3 people to have virtually the same dream. My hair is still standing on edge as I think of this story!

I also had a friend who used to live in an old Cival War Hospital that was converted into a house. They constantly had faucets running and TV switching on and off by themselves.

The freakest though was that she had 2 sisters. One day when she came home from school she heard "them" running up the stairs and down the hall laughing. She yelled at them to be quiet, and she went to her own room. Her sisters came home 10 minutes later, via their dad!!

As a Science Fair project she did seance-y type stuff around the house with a tape recorder, and was able to record very spooky and unearthly sounds that they didn't hear originally. It was only when she went back to listen, they were there.

Also, this is TOTALLY not scary, but I have a Christmas Cactus plant that shed some flowers a couple years ago in my little greenhouse. One of the blooms fell and dried into the shape of a fairy or an angel. I'm still debating whether or not to sell it on Ebay, ROFLOL!

I LOVE that photo! It's just really pretty as well as being interesting. This is not a "scary" story- but it does have to do with spirits. My DH's Grandma Rhea ( yes, that really was her name...!) passed away about 5 years before his Grandpa Mog. In the interim he suffered from Alzheimers and was just desperately sad without his lifelong sweetheart. He died at home and was found by my MIL in the morning. Later that day
2 separate neighbors approached her and shared that they had clearly heard the voice of Grandma Rhea saying- "Okay Mog... it's time to go." I love that story. I truly believe in an afterlife and that love and family are forever... that story comforts me when I think of it. I just hope I get to go before my own lifelong sweetheart so I don't have to go through the separation because I hate that idea a lot.

I got me some chills reading that! What a cool looking photo too!

I don't have any stories personally, but I have one that my MIL has told me. She says when her son (my dh) was asleep in one of his grandmother's bedrooms. He was just a baby at the time. He started crying hysterically and my MIL and her mother tried to open the door and the door wouldn't budge. Finally, after what seemed like forever the door finally unlocked and she was able to get to her son.

The house was previously a funeral parlor.

My mom was living in Missouri, but needed to come back to WA to fight a custody battle for my sister. We moved in together (with my sis and daughter) and ended up in this horrible house that ended up feeling haunted.

My mom went into the storage room and was pushed from behind and knocked down. There were also times that boxes in that room were knocked over or her computer was messed up (it was also in that room). One night, I was in the bathroom, getting ready for bed. I heard the sounds of a child standing outside the door sniffling and breathing like they had a stuffy nose. I kept telling them to knock it off because I thought one of the girls was trying to scare me. I went out and no one was there... both of the girls were asleep in bed. Another time, my mom was in the bathroom and heard a child saying "mom"... she was trying to shush my sister because she thought it was her, but the girls were both in bed. Then the cat would freak out occasionally and go running with all of its hair on end (she was Persian so it was quite a sight). One day I was in the living room and heard pots being moved and cupboard doors being opened. I thought my mom was in there, but it turned out she was in the bedroom, reading a book. I rounded a corner one day and felt like I was an inch from running into someone (you could feel the energy as if someone was there); but no one was there. You could frequently hear sounds that seemed as if someone was walking around in another room. After awhile, we didn't want to stay (and my mom's battle was over) so we were packing. Things ramped up and almost daily there were strange things happening. About two weeks before we moved, we were packing things and my mom and I were in my room talking. We heard a loud crash and the sound of breaking glass at midnight. We went into my mom's room and she had several glass cannisters on her dresser. One of them looked like it had been hit from above. The top of the cannister was shattered, but it was still upright. It was crazy.

Right after that, we had a call from an old family friend. He randomly told my mom that he had been having dreams that he was supposed to talk to someone who had died and wasn't at peace. She told him about the stuff that had been happening. He came over and ended up talking (to "Caleb") throughout the house and we didn't have anything strange for the remaining days we were there. We did find out later that someone had lost their son in that house. It still gives me the creeps after six years!

I work midnights as a nurse in a nursing home so we of course have all kinds of spooky things that happen like lights turning on and off by themselves and other things. The particular home I work at use to have an orange and gray cat about 10 years ago. This cat died before I started working there and now often when a resident is dying they say things like "get that orange cat out of here" or "where'd that cat come from?" or "oh look at that orange cat!" And of course we don't see it because it's not there. I wouldn't have believed it myself but I have had several residents who have said this to me....

OOh that reminds me- My two year old son has ( on two occasions) looked at the corner of the yard where I buried one of our cats that had to be put to sleep and said "Hi Kitty... Hi Kitty" The trippy part is- he was NOT there when we buried her and I don't remember talking to him about it.

I worked in a bank that I'm SURE had a ghost!!!!!!

We would walk by the men's bathroom (single stool with a door) and the toilet would flush - no one was in there. I was standing talking to a teller one day and his adding machine just started spitting out numbers. We called him "George". No harm, I think he was just checking things out.

I work part time in the library and there is a ghost on the 3rd floor (storage) - things move around a lot up there. Again, no harm, just things moving.

We had my grandfather visit a guest once. She swears he sat on the edge of her bed and asked how we all were. She knew him pretty well so she knew who he was and she swears she was not dreaming, but that is really the only thing I have. It wasn't my encounter, but I was in the house. She said she sat and talked with him for a while. Creeped me out and I couldn't sleep for weeks. I told her if she spoke with him again to tell him not to spook me cuz I wouldn't take it so well. It would FREAK me out!!!
