Thanks to everyone for the welcome! I find Photoshop so overwheming..i want to learn everything at once! LOL

I have a question (not sure if I should be posting this somewhere else...) which is probably child's play for most of you but..How can I change the size of my page before printing? After designing a page I go to print but it's always too big and needs to crop the edges. How do I change the settings so it will design the page on a 8.5 x 11 page? Can I change the setting after i have already designed a page? Thanks for anyone that can help.

Karen

When you open a new page there's a pop up box that allows you to set the size - set it to width 8.5 and height 11 (or vice versa if you want it horizontal) - make sure that the measurements are in inches not pixels though :)

You can also change the image size after you've started (but if you are designing it in a different size it will distort) by going into Image on the toolbar and selecting image size - you can then change to whatever size.

If however, you already set it to 8.5x11 and it's just bleeding off the edge, it may be that your printer won't (or isn't set to) print the full page and the printer's margin settings are making it run off. I have an older printer and there's nothing that can be done to print full-bleed (all the way to the edge), but some can - maybe others can help with that. But, if you're stuck with margins, when you go to print use Print with Preview. When the preview box opens up there's a little box you can click that I believe is called "print to fit media" or something along that line - it will resize your image to fit the page.

Hope this makes some sense, I'm going by memory here - don't have photoshop on the work computer. If not, I can look later at home and clarify for you.

Lisa is right. Go to Print with Preview, and it will show you what it will look like before printing it. You can scale to fit. Also, if you have a borderless printer, you might have to choose that in your page setup. Mine only prints borderless in certain sizes, but not 8.5x11. When I chose that size, a bit of it is off the paper. So what I do is choose 8.5x11 and then choose to print at 97%. There is going to be a hairline of white paper, which I trim off. Or choose 98%, and you lose a hairline! LOL! Can't win this one on my printer!!

Here's another thing to try. (I have to do this a lot since I send my stuff out for printing...) A lot of printers 'chop off' about a quarter of an inch or less as a default. Sooo, what I do is drag out guides a quarter inch all the way around and keep my pics and text within my 'safety' area. I've found that that helps a lot... Just make sure your bg 'bleeds' all the way to the edges or else you might find yourself with a white space all the way around... hth! :)

Pretty darn good for reciting from memory, if you ask me... Nicely done!
