View Full Version : Filesize in the gallery...?

I just tried to upload a LO, but the filesize is to big...
It's 500x500, and filesize is 119,8. Is the limit lover her at TheDigiChick than it is at other galleries? :Not_Impre
The filesize limit is 120 in all my other galleries...

I believe the file size is 125 KB...at least that is what it is for me. It used to be 100 KB.
One thing to try is to just upload your pic without putting in the credit or detail info at first. Sometimes if your credit list is too long, it won't upload your layout in that initial step. Can you see if that's the problem?

I think that Sinead is right. For gallery uploads I usually save 500x500 @ 72 DPI. That gives me a file size of approx. 50-60 kb. The gallery seems to like it when I do it that way.
Hope we were able to help. :)

I stay under the 125 and don't experience any problem unless I have a lot of info in the description area......I second Sinead's suggestion...

I too stay under the 125... some galleries im with are around that mark.. but here I'm only allowed to upload 101kbs which is annoying ... today I uploaded one and it was exactly 101kbs but it still wouldnt let me upload it. So i had to lift the compression again. I like all my LO's to be 600 x 600 but I move the compression rate to make sure it goes under the filesize limit or the same if I can.
Ohhh maybe im not putting the dpi down :S I will try that next time

slightly OT, perhaps it will help -- I have a tutorial for getting a perfectly sized layout, with a nice crisp image here --

so, does that mean some can upload at 125 size here, and others are at 101 size?

I don't think it's different...
I know it used to be 100 KB and then a while back it went up to 125 KB. Still, though, I keep mine below 100 so that I only have to resize once and can post wherever. I don't think that the 125 size is just for staff... I can't remember if it changed when I moved over to the CT staff or if it was some other time. I think it was some other time.
Basically, I'm pretty sure there's just one limit--125 KB for everyone. Does that make sense?

Is it 125?? Because when you go to upload your layout it states that the max size is 101 k. I always just keep mine right around 100 anyway, just to be safe.

Ditto what Nikki said. After reading this thread I looked when I uploaded my next layout, and it says 101. So I keep it under 100 so I don't have any problems.
Thanks for the link again, Christine. Great tutorials :)

I always keep mine below 100k. b/c even if it's 125k at some sites...some are 100k (or 101k) and I just like to resize once.

well huh. this is the only site I personally know that is as low as 100 --the other main six (haha! different ct's you know?) places i post at all accept 150 or 155k, one even 500 K. and ct stuff that i needed to post at sbb was 125. i wish *strongly* this gallery was bigger file size.

I'm sorry I just now noticed this thread.
The upload size for members is 500x500 and under 100k. Our gallery is so busy that I have to keep it at 100k to save server space.
I have the file size set at 125k for TDC staff because some of the kit previews that we post in the gallery are impossible to get any smaller than and get a good image.
I hope this helps!
