Yes, this IS a pitty party... and you're all invited.
I get SO bummed this time of year being away from family and friends. This is my 4th Christmas away from home and I want to go home so badely. I miss everything about home... not just family, but home itself. I miss Fall in the northwest and christmas time at Starbucks! I miss football and the kiddie Christmas shows on TV. I miss extended shopping hours at the Mall and our traditional Black Friday in downtown Seattle. I just miss so much during the Holidays. This year is bitter sweet because it's our last holiday season in Germany but I STILL want to be home. We're leaving here in February and I can't help but wish we were leaving just a few months earlier.
SO, I just had to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening.

I can't imagine living away from my family during this time so honestly can feel for you......especially since I know your mother desperately misses you and your family too. Where will you guys be going in February? {{{big hugs}}} to you.....

Oh Hun, we wish you could be here. I bet it's beautiful in Germany during Christmas, but I know how it feels to long for home. I can't believe your coming home though! It will be so cool having you back in the states. Please tell us your bringing Jan with you!

Hugs, Laura! That's the really hard part about the military. You know how much I appreciate you and hubby and family for all you do and being over there! I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again! :) And I think sometimes it's harder, because you know you have an end date in mind now and it makes the homesick feeling even more intense!
And ROFL
OH MAN.....just stick her and the kids in your carry on, and make sure you avoid Customs!!!
Ditto to Kimberly!!! :)

Yes Mama does MISS HER LITTLE GIRL and wishes she could be home too. It just isn't the same around here during the holidays without my little girl. When that child gets home she is going to get sick of me hugging her everytime I see her. Mama and daddy are buying one of those new Aero beds that are the same height as a normal bed so they have something comfortable to sleep on. We are already preparing by cleaning out two rooms. One for them and one for the grandbabies. I am so excited that they are coming home, I sometimes think I won't be able to make it, but make IT I will. So hang in their daughter of mine it won't be too long now. There are going to be a lot of tears flowing around this house come February.

Big Hugs to you. I know how you feel. I was married to a guy in the military and I was away 8 long years. I did get to visit a hand full of times, not a lot of holiday visits but I am very thankful that I was able to come home for our last christmas with mom.
Just think that next year will be the best ever.

:60: Hugs Laura and Nonnie! I know you guys really miss each other... at least we have internet! :) And only about 3 more months! yay!
I'm kinda the opposite though... I really miss Christmas in Germany! :( I loved walking through the Christmas flea markets and making ornaments and cookies with our "nanny"... and the SNOW... *sniff* As much as I love stateside living, I really do miss being overseas sometimes... My heart even aches to be there again! I have sooooooooo many great memories!

((((HUGS)))) Laura - it's so hard to be away from family. I have a hard time just living in Arizona, I can't imagine all the way in Germany. Glad to hear you get to come home soon though!

hugs Laura. I know how it feels to be away from home for the holidays and it stinks. It always made me feel even worse when I'd talk to the family over the phone because EVERYONE else would be there. I hate knowing that everone is together but you!
Just think... this is the last time you will be away from home AND it is also the last time that you will be in Germany for Christmas, so just try to take it all in and enjoy your last holiday there!

(((Hugs))) Laura. Christmas is hard being away from family and away from the American hustle-and-bustle. I think it was a little easier for me, being in a semi-Muslim country (Turkey takes pride in being secular) so I had almost no Santa Clauses or Christmas Trees to look at, so I could almost pretend it wasn't Chrismas at all. But it wasn't that easy on my family back home!!
I hope you can find ways to enjoy this Thanksgving and Christmas, and make special memories that you can take with you when you come back this way.
Nonnie, hugs to you too. Are you counting the days yet?? :)

AH- consider yourself hugged... homesickness is crummy. My brother served a church mission in Germany and i remember the phone calls on Christmas... I hope you can catch the holiday spirit and enjoy it anyway.

Counting the days? I'm counting the hours. I am getting so excited to have Laura home, that I am getting hard to live with. It's DH do this and DH do that. The honey do list grows day by day. It's been a entire year this Christmas since I have seen my kids and it seems like an eternity. YES I AM EXCITED!!!!

I know it's got to be tough. I hated it when I was in NC and my parents were in GA at Christmas!! Hang in there...you'll be back home soon!
