Happy (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day! One day of celebrating isn't enough for us around here, though, so we thought we'd bring you an extra fun Special Workshop this month! That's right--for the month of May, there will be two workshops! We'll have the regular May workshop with posts from your host on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and we'll have the Special NSD/May workshop with posts on Wednesdays. Are you ready to get the fun started?
The first thing to do is to check out the NSD Card Swap challenge over on The Hybrid Chick blog. We have put together a little tutorial for you to try your hand at making some hybrid-ready cards, AND we've offered you a free and gorgeous paper pack from Nicole Seitler of Sugarplum Paperie to get you started! Find out more about this beautiful paper pack here! Don't be nervous if you've never done anything hybrid. We have a super easy tutorial for you to follow over there.
Since we're running this special workshop here at TDC, we're going to welcome both digital and hybrid-ready cards for this challenge. Your challenge for the month of this workshop is to create a card (or several cards!) using digital products. We also encourage you to print out your digital card base and elaborate on it to take it hybrid. Once you have created your card, you will send a full-resolution jpg version of your card to me (Sinead: sinead@thedigichick.com). This challenge is open until June 1, and once I have everyone's cards, I will put together a zip file of every card from the workshop and each participant will get a copy of the zip file. Imagine how many awesome cards that will be! We also have several of the TDC and THC staff members and designers hosting the workshop post each week, and they will offer a card for the challenge as well. You definitely don't want to miss out on this challenge! Don't forget, too, that if you use at least 50% TDC products in your cards, you will qualify for Chickie Points.
Here are the specific details about this Special Workshop and Chickie Points:
-Each Wednesday in May (or leading up to the Wednesdays in May--it doesn't have to be specifically posted on Wed.), you can post one card in this thread to earn 2 Chickie Points.
-If you have posted a card each Wednesday (or for each Wednesday) in May (4 cards in all), then you earn 1 Bonus Chickie Point at the end of the month.
-If you use a New Product in one of your cards at any point this month, then you can earn 1 Bonus Chickie Point (but only 1--you can't earn this bonus point for each week).
-You are more than welcome to post more than one card each week, but you'll only get Chickie Points credit for 1 card a week.
-At the end of the month (June 1), if you have created/posted one card a week and used at least 50% TDC products and used at least one New Item at some point in one of the cards, you can earn a total of 10 Chickie Points for this Special Workshop Challenge.
-You do not have to use the free NSD paper pack for the Special Workshop Challenge. You only have to use that paper pack for this weekend's challenge over at THC (The Hybrid Chick). This workshop is an extension of that challenge, and you can feel free to use whatever products you want. (Just make sure to use at least 50% TDC stuff so that you can earn Chickie Points.)
Let's review the basic information:
1. Join in on the NSD Card Swap Challenge!
2. Create a digital or hybrid "ready to print" card. A "ready to print" hybrid card has the card background plus any digital elements that you will cut out and add to the card once everything is printed out. Here's an example of a hybrid "ready to print" card and the printed and completed hybrid card:
The standard card is 4.25" x 5.5".
3. E-mail a full resolution (full size) jpg version of your digital or hybrid "ready to print" card to Sinead: sinead@thedigichick.com by June 1.
4. Post your card in the gallery and link us up here in this thread.
5. Don't forget to check back here each Wednesday to see the beautiful cards our staff and other members are doing.
I can't wait to see what you do with this challenge, and I'm excited about all of the cards that we'll be sharing this month!
