Journaling reads:
How does one measure love? You were somewhat gruff when I was growing up and were not the sort of man to show affection, but I never doubted that you loved our family. You watched over us all and made sure we had the things we needed. You helped with mom’s cars and my own. You gave advice and told us what we needed to hear, even though we may not have liked it. You were careful with things and made sure that your daughter would have something when you passed on. You worked hard and provided for your family. You were strong as you watched over us all. You took your responsibilities seriously and never let us down. When Edna died I was shocked when you broke down crying at her funeral. Though you had been married for over 50 years I never expected to see you in tears. It was so hard to watch her in her final years, not knowing who we were and where she was. It broke my heart to see you cry. You were my Godfather and my Great Uncle. You walked me down the aisle when Grandpa wasn’t there to do it. Now you’re in heaven and I finally understand so much more about you. You are gone, but I know you are there watching over us all.
