This is my dad and me on my wedding day. Today is my birthday, and for some reason I always miss him most on this day. I was walking in the mall yesterday behind a man who was wearing Dad's cologne, breathing in the scent as deeply as I could. I must have looked like a real loon LOL. I don't think anyone noticed! Anyhow, I knew I needed some theraputic scrapping.
Journaling:
My wedding day, August 14th, 1994. After all the preparations a bride undergoes, the photographer took us outside for some photos. I was so nervous I forgot to put the veil on my headpiece. You seemed remarkably calm, Dad. Now I am a parent, and I can see your face says so much more. Your love radiates from you. Your pride for me is in your eyes. Your smile says you will hold my hand as I enter this new chapter of my life. You are amazed the day has arrived and that your firstborn is today a bride. You make a promise to yourself and to me that you will be a pillar of strength for me, a guiding hand today and always.
{the lyrics of the song my dad chose for our Father-Daughter dance}
You don't need direction,
you know which way to go
And I don't want to hold you back
I just want to let you grow
You're the one who taught me
you don't have to look behind
Oh, yes sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine
Child of mine, child of mine
Oh, yes sweet darling
So glad you are a child of mine
